“Over the years I’ve encountered a number of students who could do “advanced” poses on their very first day of class. Does that make them advanced practitioners? Conversely, I’ve observed students with decades of practice who can’t touch their toes. Does that make them beginners?”
Everyone is on their own journey! Don’t judge your abilities by another’s.
So true...
(via http://www.youtube.com/attribution_link?a=-EZw6OtEEZM&u=/watch?v=tWO8lskmkq0&feature=share) I think I can try this soon! Not ready for a complete backbend yet, but this seems possible. If not now, soon.
my wonderful friend and instructor
I bet I could do this now, or at least get close! I am going to have to try this one.
hanumanasana
Felt extremely grounded taking this pose to this plane

My goal someday.
I tried Camel Pose (ustrasana) again today and I did SO much better that I impressed myself. The first time I did it a few weeks ago, my body was more or less a triangle, but tonight I was much more curved -- I am getting it and I know my core is getting stronger! AND I figured out how to use my computer's webcam without having to ask my husband or son for help.
I don't know if you can tell because it is so dark but I think I have a decent curve, at least it's getting there. I see definite improvement. Especially compared to my first attempt, but apparently I deleted that picture.
I really need to. I’ve been neglecting it lately and I’m not happy about that!
It is important.

I am not here yet, but maybe someday.
I like the way her eye shows between her toes
I know it’s Eka Hasta Bhujasana but I always feel it should be Eka Pada Bhujasana…
Variation on lizard. It looks a little funky, but it feels amazing. So much going on in there.
I think I would like to try this version, eventually. It looks like an amazingly comfortable stretch!
Asana of the week: Cow face
This week I am going to work on gomukasana (cow face pose) and try to settle a little more deeply into it. I am almost there!
I really want to get my head down to the floor in this pose…almost there!
Love this pose!
Calling all fitblrs/health blogs!
After a massive cleanup my dash is totally dead! Please like or reblog if you’re a health/fitness/motivational/happiness blog and I’ll follow you. Bonus points if vegan/vegetarian and if you post in UK morning time :) <3
Just my thoughts...
Just a little nostalgic what iffing today. Sometimes I wish that there had been computers and youtube when I was growing up. I had been interested in yoga as a teenager, but didn't have enough information. And if I had the resources that I have now (though it all started for me on youtube) I would have been a yogi much earlier in life and who knows how far I would have progressed by now!? Arghh! (I am 46 and have been practicing for 4 years) Anyway, that's neither here nor there. I am just very thankful that I was brought into the world of yoga. It makes me feel good physically, mentally, and spiritually. I would be nowhere near where I am today without it! Halleluyah! And thanks to all the wonderful yoga instructors out there who bring their expertise to us in one form or another. Thank you all!
“Within the body there is a profound, innate wisdom of its own. I tell my students all of the time not to ask their head but ask their bodies what it is they want to do. The body doesn’t lie, it’s up to us to listen and honor that wisdom.”
