Finally got footage of this glitch. I looked at the video frame by frame and noticed that for a single frame the menu where you can select auto or flee was visible.

That's what that rapid clicking was after the battle started. The only thing I did was continue holding up as the battle started, so I don't know how it could've selected auto. Further, one of the previous times I did this I had battles set to waiting instead of active, so that setting doesn't affect whether the glitch occurs or not. I've also had it occur when holding down as the battle starts.

I believe I mentioned this in another post, but I've also had this happen in Layer 4 upon finishing Vader Eloha's pre-battle cutscene even though I'm pretty sure I wasn't holding any direction (why would I have? The battle starts upon exiting her last text box; I don't hold direction keys for no reason). I think it was Blue route Vader this glitch happened with. Either I was holding a direction key (which was the cause for all instances of deliberately triggering this glitch), or something else is going on.

Much like the glitch where The Batter's equipment can spontaneously unequip for no discernible reason, this glitch doesn't occur consistently. I've played this game over 10 times and have only experienced this glitch happen naturally 3 times. I've had an additional 6 instances of this occurring, but it was from me deliberately trying to trigger it (the above video is one of those instances). I can only speculate that this glitch has to do with the removal of the menu that permits autobattling and that rarely when holding up or down on the exact frame the menu is still accessible before it's removed causes this to happen.

What's interesting about this is how fast the party members react: they attack the instant their atb bars fill. I'm pretty sure auto doesn't normally react that fast. You can back out of whatever this auto battle glitch is by pressing x or the escape key, but I experienced in one case where upon trying to do so, the game very rapidly did the sound of what happens when you attempt backing out to the attack/auto/flee menu and the atb bars for the party froze. The enemies didn't attack either, thus rendering the game hardlocked. I don't know what determines the game hardlocking upon trying to back out or not, but that does mean in rare unlucky cases for an already rare glitch, you could end up losing progress because the battle won't ever end. It's better to just let the party auto attack than risk the game hardlocking from trying to back out of it.
