Hii are you okay?
Hello random person on the internet! Not really but thanks for asking <3 Hope you are doing well tho!!!
That morning began auspiciously with a cooling northern breeze that spread the smell of plumerias throughout Summervale. The flowery smell made Jinnette think of the fabled hanging gardens of the Spring Mountains that had acres and acres full of all the flowers known to the Eastern Continent, and some even from other continents. Summervale was full of plumerias, three-petaled bougainvilleas, and purple wildflowers after the rainy season, but never tulips or roses or pansies that only grew in northern areas like Greenhaven, where Jinnette grew up.
Jinnette opened the windows and went back to sorting scented candles: rose red, winter morning, southern seaside, autumn smoke and many other smells Summervale never had, and never will, know. If Jackt—the owner, manager and senior partner of the store—were here, he would have yelled at her for letting the outside air dilute and ruin the "mysterious" aroma of the magic shop. Jinnette was only glad to be able to breathe fresh air without the stifling smell of incense and scented candles. Jackt went into incredible pains to make the place seem as a genuine magic shop as much as possible, and not the faux pretense that it was in reality. The store itself was over a hundred years old. It was once a successful apothecary, at least until the Pashyanths, the original owners, moved to a real town that had more than a thousand people. Jackt inherited the store from his father, who used to sell herbs from here. Then the Liuvens across the river began to sell fresh herbs from their home garden, and Jackt had to improvise.
Summervale, situated at the edge of the southern forests, was a small town with simple needs. The people here farmed, hunted, worshipped their rain gods and cared little for the outside world. The outside world likewise cared little for Summervale also, except for the Eastern Intercontinental train stop built fifty years ago that promoted Summervale from a backwater village to an upcoming town. But hardly anyone ever came this far south except for explorers and runaways. The residents of the town never bothered to welcome the dozen or so outsiders that came by train each year. An enterprising man like Jackt was an exception. He wanted more suckers to show up and buy his pocket spells and banishing powder.
Jinnette moved from sorting candles to sorting books. The store’s only sellers were scented candles and incense sticks as Summervalens loved a nice smelling home free of flying bugs. The rest of the revenue came from renting out books. Unlike where Jinnette came from, Summervale didn’t have that many books. There were some at the school, but they were mostly instructional, and some entrusted to the town monk, but they were all about religion. The store had a collection of other types of books, mostly stories, left behind by previous owners. Jackt charged a casi from anyone who wanted to borrow a book from the small collection for a week. He didn't care much for books, like many other Summervalens. If he had only cared enough to buy new books every time he went to South Town instead of more candles, the store might actually turn up a profit.

The dream realm, Xatiani quickly found out, had no rules. It could be as bright as one imagined or dark as one dreaded. One could equally be floating in air or on water, it was hard to tell. Some fish swam, the others flew. The little be-haloed fairy creatures Xatiani learned were no good as explaining such phenomena. “What is walking?” one inquired most curiously. “Why does one have to pick flying or swimming, why not do both at the same time?” the other asked her with a bewildered expression. Here questions got answered with other questions, so Xatiani stopped asking them. Instead she spent her time fly-swimming though the cotton-candy kelp and wading into the dark water with the glowy fish. Xatiani was most astonished to find out that even in the complete absence of light, she could see.

Pixirina collected rosemary leaves she carefully grew outside her abode carved into a mushroom. She had been working all morning painting blooming flowers, sprinkling dew on cobwebs, and undoing the spells bad witches cast in the night to make mornings sad. It was almost noon and she was exhausted. She went inside with the rosemary hoping to brew a tea that would lull her to sleep quickly. She would wake again at dusk to spray fragrance on night-blooming flowers and to show wayward fireflies the right path. She sighed. A fairy’s life was all work, work, and work. But now, it was time for another trip to the dreamlands.

It was the most curious thing. Mr. Lockjaw has never seen such an animation. Could it have been a creation of the goblins, a fairy disguised in jest, or perhaps a woodswitch deformed by a spell gone wrong? He really could not say. When the creature asked him where the apothecary was on a windy Spring afternoon, Mr. Lockjaw pointed in the direction regardless. He blinked once and then twice watching the swirl of strangeness disappear around the corner to Mushroom Row. Perhaps it was just old age finally catching up to him. Yes, that must be it. Mr. Lockjaw shook his head and hurried home. Once safely inside his underwater cabin, he made up his mind to stop thinking about the peculiar encounter and made himself some grass tea.

Hypothyroidism. Hashimotos Disease. It sounds like a fake disease, but I promise you it is anything but. I went for nearly 5 long torturous suicidal years flip-flopping back-and-forth between an undiagnosed type two diabetes and hypothyroid diagnosis. Five long years without treatment for either. I slept for probably 17 hours a day. I started Losing my hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, etc. my face was strangely puffy, I lost my period 100% , they kept putting me on psychiatric meds which we’re not doing anything because my problems were dangerously physical. By the time I was finally diagnosed my fasting blood sugar was over 300! My hypothyroidism was off the charts. I was told by multiple people they don’t understand how I was even walking. Why I was not in the hospital. How I did not end up in a coma or worse. Five years later I am still battling side effects and long-term nerve damage.
I too was on psych meds for nearly a decade and it was only when I was in my 30s that I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. That only happened because I specifically sought out an endocrinologist and asked if I had a hormone problem. My blood sugar is normal but I did have elevated prolactin levels. I'm still trying to lose weight. Still don't know the cause of the hypothyroidism. This disease ruined my education and social life. If only I was diagnosed correctly when I was a teenager...

I hope y’all understand the racism apparent here and how black women are being expected to conform to the standards of white womanhood in order to be actually classified as women

This reminds me of an article from years ago when an Indian female athlete was disqualified on the basis of "hyperandrogenism.” When the woman refused to artificially lower her testosterone levels, the sports committee kicked her from the games. This sprinter managed to return to sports after a court case, but some committee did the same thing to another female athlete, Caster Semenya, in 2018, supposedly after the “rules have changed.”
