imagine an episode of merlin from young mordreds perspective; it would be a horror film

he escaped from his camp where knights in red cloaks systematically and violently killed his whole family and clan

he finds refuge with his uncle, and they risk their lives to enter the forbidden city to trade for food

they’re immediately found and must run for their lives, his uncle is captured and soon decapitated- but somehow mordred finds Emrys!

young mordred has bumped into a god amongst men, the very same who is prophesied to save them all and free them of tyranny

…and what is his God doing? Emrys is on his knees scrubbing the very floor those red cloaked knights walk on

merlin showrunners really went: "ok everyone, this is will, merlin's best friend from ealdor, he's nice isn't he? good. let's kill him! let's move on... this is freya, a poor girl affected by a horrible curse, but don't worry because merlin will help her! but sadly she has to die lmao. who's next? oh yes merlin's father, how sweet to see a bond develop between him and his son after so many years apart... we can't allow that tho, bye bye balinor. lancelot! you're merlin's dearest friend and the only one who knows about his magic, so what are you still doing here? through the veil, up up! what? an innocent boy who loves frogs and comes to like and help merlin even though he was supposed to let him die in a ditch? unacceptable behaviour! here's an arrow coming for you, should've minded your business lol. moving on again... oh gwaine! you've always shown such loyalty to merlin and helped him whenever was needed so you shall die a painful death without even saying goodbye to him, hehe we're so funny... but here's the funniest thing of all! why don't we let arthur die in merlin's arms after the latter spent ten years protecting him and fulfilling his destiny for nothing? such a great finale we're geniuses"

I love how INTENSE Merlin and Arthur are about each other right off the bat. they've had like two interactions and Arthur is already pinballing between beating this little nerd up and then being the one person to believe the nerd's wild-ass stories about magic shield snakes the next minute? to the point where he stands in front of his father the KING and vouches for Merlin's word - the word of a rando servant, accusing a knight! You believe him based on what, my prince? his vibes? vibes alone, your Honour! And then after Arthur yells at him Merlin goes to his dragon buddy all like "MY DESTINY IS NOTHING NOW." like can you two chill out for a second maybe get a drink and calm down? mind you, you've known each other five minutes.
