Merlin s1 ep7: Gates of Avalon review!

Narrative score: 10/10. Drama! Mystery! Merlin getting splatted with food! I liked the ongoing tension of Morgana's visions and her bond with Uther. The Sidhe are a cool addition to the world of Camelot and a good creature design, I hope they’re featured again. I also liked that Sophia and Aulfric have a humanising moment where we realise he is sacrificing himself for her and they actually love each other. Right before Merlin blasts them to bad CGI smithereens for trying to harm his beloved prince.

Hypnokink pervert score: 3/10. Hmmm, Arthur's glazed eyes were good but there was so much missed opportunity here. Arthur acts pretty much normal. No droning voice or anything. And when Sophia actually attempts drowning him, she physically pushes him under the water. It would have been hotter if she ordered him to walk into the lake and he obeyed. Disappointing for the mind control fetish community tbh.

CGI score: -5/10. Abysmal. Never ever change, BBC.
