“Huh? Nah, you’re not. It’s fine. But mnn.. yeah. Shit happened before either of us were effin’ born and we just kinda got thrust into the middle of it all. Seems like you were a lot more fortunate though.”
He seems to laugh that off instead as if it were a joke and not something that’s actually cause him a lot of grief. He tended to do that a lot. Laugh off his misfortunes. A bad habit really that he never could seem to break out of. Anyways, he really didn’t mind her talking. He rather enjoyed it, just hearing her speak so passionately about all sorts of things with such enthusiasm.
“I’m sure they’ll manage without ya for the most part. Who knows– maybe we didn’t actually leave our worlds and we’re just in some dream world. Hell if I know.”
She had finally released his arm and to be honest he was a little disappointed since it was actually rather nice but whatever. He won’t say anything. It had taken him a bit to get used to the amount of humans this place housed and the amount of other strange beings that seemed to loiter around but by this point he didn’t care so much since he still mostly kept to himself for the most part and they were just people that he walked past.
“No problem. I don’t really mind so much. If ya ever need help then I’m your man.”
They had reached the coffee shop that seemed to be only half full with customers. A little busier than he liked it but as long as they got a table then it was fine. Emalf reached out a hand and opened the door for her, gesturing her inside before entering as well, the door shutting behind him with a soft clink.
She was lucky. She was fortunate. They’re both demons, but he was born there and she was born in the Gray Garden. Life was easy for her. All she had to do was go to school. All she had to do was do her homework and pick flowers and hang out with her friends. And what did he have to do? She frowns and her arm slips back into his, ignoring the strange mix of people in favour of focusing on him.
It feels weird, holding his arm like this, after what the went through. It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago, either, but she knows it’s been... a fair amount of time. Things had almost bounced back to the way they were before the Flame World came for their aggressive visit. Still, though, she feels a certain amount of guilt that his world isn’t as well off as hers.
“ This is a weird dream world if that’s the case... “
She can’t say she would be with Emalf in a dream world, but she can’t exactly deny the fanciful thoughts once everything had settled after the attack. Some nights, when she couldn’t sleep, she would often let her mind wander -- would things have been different between them had they met on different terms, what sort of things would they do if they were friends, what if it went beyond just--
Yosafire snaps her attention back to Emalf, cheeks reddening in her embarrassment of having let her mind wander while he’s standing right next to her.
“ Sorry I uh... spaced out for a second -- so this is the cafe you were talking about right? It’s cute... I hope it’s not terribly expensive. When I get a job, I’ll make sure to pay you back, okay? “
