That awesome childhood song that has suddenly (due to this scheissschau called life) taken on serious gravity in its message. Thanks Dad.
Infographic: 5 ways education can advance peace and justice
Looking forward to building up a clearinghouse of all the things that reflect my ongoing believe that education is by far the most fundamental element of our being, our growth, our resilience, and our ability to manage a rapidly changing world (wrt: entrepreneurship, innovation, empathy, design thinking, and other elements that empower us to help ourselves).
YES, Betsy! More funding DOES help schools!
My school was FANTASTIC! It had computers, and fresh textbooks, and all the resources one could want! My neighborhood was LOADED! We were rich! Tax money, from our local hundred-thousand-dollar-houses, went to the school, attracted high-quality teachers, gave us overheads and internet and a library and football fields and gym equipment and spare calculators and miniature Latin dictionaries and a hundred copies of every required novel and Bunsen burners and circuit boards and bus fleets and music stands and vending machines and stage props and nice lunches and good lighting and whiteboards…
And then I went to a private school where my textbook still had the Soviet Union on a map and we had one lunch lady and old computers with poor internet. Also, really small classrooms and only one teacher per grade.
THEN I WENT BACK TO THE HIGH-QUALITY SCHOOL. AND THINGS IMPROVED. But I was still a few steps behind the rest of my class. It really probably had a negative impact on my life…
The point being: YES. Funding helps schools! And if you keep funding at a local level, then you have fancy, wealthy neighborhoods with excellent schools constantly manufacturing the next generation of top achievers…but you will also have impoverished communities that can’t ever improve themselves and that drive higher-quality teachers away because they can’t offer as much and have more disruptive students and will just never be that good because they can’t offer the resources and training necessary.
So, Betsy Devos, head of all education in the United States of America, yes, funding helps schools.
Inspired. Honored. Inspired again that we have these voices speaking out with such honesty, candor, and might. May the reflections continue to come and inspire others!

This is the cutest thing ever. The ability to live our lives and share our stories, so vividly and honesty is completely wow. I hope we, as a human race, can harness the power of technology for even more good good good!
Reflecting on this wild and crazy journey...
