Has anyone else had their entire life transformed and healed by a nearly nineteen-year-old BL manga series about two men in love and their hundreds of teddy bears?
I’ve always liked the idea of an AU where Misaki and Usami were able to go to school together, and due to different circumstances, they ended up falling in love. Basically, a world where Misaki switches roles with Takahiro—but with a happy ending.(?)
Later on, when I have a bit more time, I hope to draw more from this idea. (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)💕

I know I haven't updated this blog in years, and same for the visual timeline. This is a post I've been wanting to do for a very long time but have struggled with finding the words for until now. It also will negate much of what I've shared in the past, which felt overwhelming. Oh well!
It's time for...
A Tale of Two Timelines: Part Deaux (?)
In one of my main posts about the SIH & JR timelines, I mentioned there were two theories on how the storylines intersect. As a refresher;
Theory A: The year of Ritsu falling in love is the same year Romantica met, moved in together, and celebrated Misaki's 19th birthday.
Theory B: The year of Ritsu falling in love is the same as Misaki's final year at University and entering the workforce.
After many countless hours and help from the incredible Timeline Squad, we were able to conclude Theory B is the correct timeline.
But it wasn't once.
Things kept bothering me. Like Junjou Terrorist and their very weird retcon pushing them into the future and freezing their ages/stories. Or the anime and how it's abundantly clear high schooler Misaki is on a train with an adult Ritsu going to work at Marukawa.
Why would Nakamura let this happen?
Because she changed the timeline.
Queue literal, real life years of me trying to determine when this change was made and maybe theorize why. I hit a roadblock and decided I wouldn't touch the timeline again until I figured it out. I think I have now.
When Nakamura created SIH she had it take place at the same time as the events in JR. And why wouldn't she? It makes sense to have your story and its sister story take place at the same time.
Then SIH took on a life of its own. She trapped herself in the narrative she created with those little boxes at the end of the chapters telling you how many days until Ritsu falls in love. Time would pass all the other couples and storylines, and Takaritsu would be a snail's pace through the year Romantica shared their first kiss.
Unless she changed when their story took place on the timeline. So she did. The change happened at least before or during 2016 or 2017 when the Hatori Yoshiyuki no Baai 2 novel was published. This is because that storyline is what confirms the Theory B timeline.
I've tried creating a Theory A/Original visual timeline like the Theory B/Current timeline several times. It doesn't work. The retcon for the Current timeline is intricate and baked into every single couple's story.
It's a relief to have a "final" answer, but it's still a lot to take in, isn't it?

At the moment I have no plans to update the existing visual timeline. I'm sorry to anyone who was looking forward to that. It's mostly because I hate the placeholder years. They are confusing for anyone who is just wanting to get an idea of the timeline. However they are needed for tiki toki and it's still the best program I've found. (I also no longer pay for premium hosting for it) There are no real years for SIH/JR. There were at the beginning, but 20 real world years have passed, and it's obvious the characters are not living in 2007 in the current chapters.
There is another SIH/JR timeline project I am considering starting soon. If it happens, I will keep you posted!
ritsu would have a labubu because his mom would buy one and ship it to him and he'd be like "i hate this!" and then leaves it untouched in his apartment. takano sleeps over one night and goes "What the hell is this fucking thing"
