Dominic rolled his eyes, unimpressed by Adrianâs temper. âHeâs still alive. I just took a little sip here and there. Heâll wake up, Iâll compel him to forget and everybody goes home happy. Lighten up a little.â His expression soured as he began rifling through his drawers for clothes, pulling on a pair of jeans and fixing his shirt. âLook, you were the one that wanted me to blend in. âGo to high school, Dominic. Stop hanging around the house where I can see you, Dominic!ââ He mocked in a higher-pitched voice, shutting the drawer and turning to glare at his brother. âIâm blending. We had a project to do together, so I invited him back home like a normal teenager would. Since, you know, I canât exactly go to his house.â
Frustration bubbled from his chest, stinging his eyes as he let out a loud sigh. âWhat do you want from me, Adrian? Iâm trying here. Iâm not bothering you, Iâm going to school like you told me to. Which sucks by the way, in case you were wondering. What else do I have to do to make you happy?â
âwell, it doesnât look like school is helping with your stupidity,â adrian argued right back, shoving past dominic to check the human maleâs pulse and the gruesome bite on his neck. âyeah? you donât think anyoneâs going to question why he looks like he got bitten by a rabid animal? feed him some blood so heâll heal,â adrian said, still not believing himself that he was the one fixing the problems for once. just the other day, he had grabbed a bite with spencer and hauled her dead in the trunk of his new car. he was the last person to be lecturing his younger brother about being discreet, but even he wouldnât have lugged his meal home.
âwhat do i want from you?â he bitterly repeated. âi want you to stop getting in my way, because all our other brothers seem to do is coddle you like a child.â everyone in the family but adrian seemed to have a soft spot for dominic that was also their crippling weakness when it came to reason. âyouâre going to be the one to get us all staked and dead one day.â he wanted to be even more bitter and tell dominic the only way heâd be happy is for dominic to be gone.Â
"Oh trust me, they'll know he got mauled but they won't think it's from a wild animal." Dominic couldn't resist the smirk that overtook his expression, quickly morphing into a look of disdain as he rolled his eyes before moving to sit next to the human, biting into his wrist and dripping some of his blood into the male's mouth. "There. Bleeding heart, much? Didn't realize you cared about humans all of a sudden." He grumbled, licking at the cut to start healing faster.
Dominic gave Adrian a dumbfounded look, completely taken by surprise at the direction the conversation had taken. He'd been expecting something along the lines of 'start being more discreet', not... whatever this was. "Jesus, Adrian, jealous much? I don't ask them to do that, I just-" He snapped, trailing off because he realized he sort of did ask them to do it with his teasing and acting when he was around them. He just liked the attention, was that so bad? He didn't think it was, at least not enough to warrant this kind of reaction. "Fuck you, Adrian." Dominic spit finally at the older brother, eyes filling with hurt and anger as he scrambled up from the bed, heading for the door in a blur of speed. "Take the human back yourself then. I'm out of here." He didn't look back to see Adrian's expression, sure it was some mixture of displeased and annoyed. Practically running out of the house, he went straight for his motorcycle, taking his frustration out on the clutch as the engine revved to life, before he was shooting out of the garage with a loud squeal of tires.
