@youngsickbacchus
your url is wrong. how can you have a sex if you don't have a gender
the difference between sex and gender is that i didn't have gender with your mom last night. hope this helps
Another TRA who doesn’t know the difference between sex and gender and can’t conceive of anyone or restricting themselves with gender roles.
i literally just explained the difference but if you're still confused i can demonstrate with your dad as well
anyone else scared of single player minecraft. not just like oh it’s scary to mine alone. but the odd paranoia that there is another user there. that you’ll be playing alone and leave your house and there’s a person standing there. or you’re mining and there’s a user standing in the path you mined that leaves when you see it
God I thought I was the only one
i literally can never play for long before getting that genuine weird fear and exiting the game :(
are you scared of herobrine
Honestly Minecraft is so eerie because of that loneliness. I have always seen the “story” of Minecraft as Steve’s fruitless search for other survivors, wandering the landscape, following maps and unearthing ruins and hoping to signal to someone else—anyone else—that he is here, that he’s alive.
For example, the Beacon has obvious utility for the player, but in the story, it seems much more like it would be built as a signal to others.
It is made more eerie by the fact that the creatures he encounters are misshapen mirrors of a human form. The villagers are clearly evolved either from humans or a human-like ancestor, but are not themselves human. Drowned and Zombies perhaps were once human, but unlike zombie villagers, it seems that they cannot be cured. (Maybe he will find a way. Maybe, maybe.)
The Endermen are peaceful when respected, if unnerving. They used to frighten him, but he has been alone for so long; the empty horizon that once held hope has become so unwelcoming that the garbled syllables of these flitting black figures are almost a comfort. He talks back to them, seeing patterns in the handful of noises they repeat that aren’t there.
He has followed the clues left in the ruins, piecing together doors to the hellish, inhospitable realms the previous inhabitants of this world must have tried to escape to, and encountered incomprehensible beings. He has discovered weapons and ancient texts imbued with magic and learned to replicate it.
It has been so long. He has traveled so far, from the harsh, unforgiving lands of the desert, over mountains and into sticky jungles, and there is never a new clue, a new signal, something, anything left that might indicate that there are survivors.
So what would he think, if he saw someone appear, standing in the doorway of the fortress he has built over the years, someone human? Someone else, after so long spent searching? After so long spent knowing, deep, deep down, that there is no one else left?
What is more likely? That he would think this is a surviving human, incomprehensibly, after all this time?
Or that this is yet another being, in a world of magic and strange power, that once was human, or is trying to be human, or is not quite human, that is just
better than the others at pretending?
kids can we lighten it up a little
I truly am obsessed with how Knives Out was like. Hello Daniel Craig, man who has spent the past two decades of his career being alternately beaten up and objectified playing an action hero with no personality. Would you like to please put on a shirt and an incomprehensible vaguely Texan accent and flex your character acting dark comedy muscles as well as your pecs for a while. And he’s like BOY WOULD I and they made a work of art. Also love that they put Chris Evans in sweaters. Get your beefcakes then dress them nice make them soft and give them some bonkers character work to do it’s what cinema needs more of
I love that several people have responded to this with “op I forgive you cause you’re Scottish but that’s not a Texan accent” which is fair thank you I appreciate it but no two people have agreed on what accent it is which is also Absolutely fair and hilarious as a reaction to this film
Cannot stress enough that I do not know what the fuck a foghorn leghorn is but literally a hundred people have said it to me so far so I’m assuming it’s important to, like, Americans
I’m obsessed with emitting a dim beautiful ethereal glow at all times
i always imagined kiwi birds as the size of kiwi fruit and i was so wrong
wait how big are they then
closer to pumpkins
what you have to remember is the kiwi fruit is their unfertilized egg, so use that as a size reference
Oh no kiwi eggs are much larger than kiwifruit
Only the fertilized ones the unfertilized ones are sold in grocery stores as fruit
i see no difference
the fuzzy layer is the avian equivalent of the endometrium (mucous membrane lining the uterus); it helps prevents infection. all types of kiwi eggs have them, but it is typically reabsorbed by the body by the time a fertilized egg is finished growing. if an egg isn’t fertilized and stops growing, the body simply passes the egg, lining and all, and tries again.
then why can’t we crack open the egg like we can with other unfertilized bird eggs
that’s another feature unique to the kiwi! (and possible some extinct related birds.) the eggs don’t calcify until the later stages of embryo maturation. this is because kiwi birds have one of the largest egg-to-body ratios in the bird world. the eggs take up a huge amount of space in the mother’s body. keeping the egg soft-shelled until it’s mature gives the internal organs more room to safely do their job.
it’s theorized that the strong resemblance between kiwi ‘fruit’ (aka the unfertilized eggs) and newly hatched birds is a survival mechanism. the average nest contains several unfertilized eggs, which researchers believe may serve as a distraction in the event a predator invades the nest, giving the real hatchling time to escape.

Hey heads up indigenous people are far from the only people to have spirit animals as a concept... that has been used everywhere. Northern Europe has multiple variations of it, Finnish people being one I can name off the top of my head, and druids had something similar to it going on. To claim it as culture appropriation is really kinda ridiculous, since it's pretty similar to animism which has been used in countless cultures for thousands of years. Culture appropriation is an issue, but it does not apply to this topic. Research needs to be done before making such a serious blanket statement. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having an animal you identify with, to say there is is honestly ridiculous
Just because two things are “pretty similar” doesn't mean they are the same thing. Apples are not the same thing as pears, France is not the same thing as Belgium, katanas are not the same thing as rapiers.
While many cultures have parallels to the concept of a spirit animal, a la the norse fylgjur, the druidic familiar, the greek agathodaemon, they are all distinct forms of a similar concept from their cultures of origin. To consider them all “the same thing“ would not only be ahistorical, it would actively tread on the wonderful diversity of human spirituality.
As for cultural appropriation, take this quote from an article who asked member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe about this very debate:
“The practice of using totems is not limited to Native Americans, but cultures in other parts of the world tend to have different names for them. Writer Tristan Picotte, a member of South Dakota’s Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, explained it this way in a 2018 blog post:
"In my teachings, a Spirit Helper isn’t something you choose or identify with but rather something that comes to you in your time of need. Perhaps the animal represents something that holds a certain value, such as strength in a bull or agility in a dragonfly…
"Spirit Helpers are not a novelty. They hold a special place and represent a larger spiritual culture within a tribe… Adapting a concept such as spirits to personalization is like cherry-picking indigenous beliefs, although most likely unintentional."
Research on topics like this can be tough, misinformation is everywhere, but for the future I would suggest asking indigenous people about their religious beliefs, or even just googling a topic before making blanket statements about it.
listen i'm patient and all that but when oh when am i gonna get massive fucking tits?
