OKAY YOU FUCKERS LET’S TAKE A SECOND TO TALK ABOUT EREN JAEGER AND WHY HE’S ACTUALLY LEGITIMATELY MY FAVORITE CHARACTER  IN ALL OF SNK AND WHY 90% OF PEOPLE’S CONCEPTION OF THIS POOR KID ARE KIND OF WRONG AND UNFAIR. 

I will be honest with you I started this series off really really hating Eren. A lot. I thought he was loud, whiny, screamed too much, and pretty generic for an anime protagonist. Consistently angry with a life-long vendetta fueled by a traumatic past involving a dead mom and a missing dad.(*coughisthisedwardelriccough*) BUT NO. Eren is NOT Edward Elric, and I will go as far as to say Eren, in my opinion, is a far better and more inspirational protagonist than Edward Elric. 

And it’s because of this one quote, right here.  "While he lacks any outstanding talents, he improved his grades through outstanding diligence" People tend to interpret this as “Eren is a loser L O L he has no talents”. And I’m like NO YOU SIT DOWN.  What this should be interpreted as is unlike all his trainee mates, Eren possess no natural talent for anything, but overcomes this by studying and training twice as hard as everyone else. He works SO DAMN HARD that he ranks 5th out of THE ENTIRE 104th, and is even stated to be THE BEST at hand-to-hand comabt out of EVERYONE ELSE  BECAUSE HE WORKED REALLY FUCKING HARD.  This means SO MUCH and I actually had to pause this episode and sit back and let that sink in. We are constantly faced with the pressure of never being as good as that one genius kid in your class who always gets good grades and doesn’t even need to try. We are always comparing ourselves to those who stand out and excel and think, no matter how hard I try, I won’t be as good as that guy.  Unlike any anime protagonist I’ve ever seen, Eren is literally (well, at least for like the first 7 episodes) a relatively normal, average guy who’s physical strength is constantly overlooked because of his OP as fuck sister, and intelligence is always questioned because of his nerdy blonde friend. When he can’t figure out how the fuck to use 3DMG gear he swallows his pride and asks for help. When Mikasa tells him he’ll die without her protection, he accepts this because he knows he isn’t as strong as her. Eren KNOWS he is probably average at best and unlike most anime protagonists I’ve ever seen, Eren actually needs to fucking try harder than everyone else because he knows he isn’t naturally talented, but he doesn’t let that get in the way. Eren represents the way 99% of us feel- inadequate in comparison to the countless of “more talented” people, but shows to not let that feeling of inadequacy let you give up. Eren is relatively average, but he’s not gonna fucking stay that way if he has any say about it 

i mean he turns into a 15 meter buff as fuck titan but its not like he asked for that shit to happen

I know a lot of people said they didn’t like Eren at first, but I liked him 100% from day one, and I generally don’t like shounen protagonists much. I honestly never felt his reactions were over the top (maybe cause I’m an angry person?)
