The Lokasenna is the Old Norse equivalent of a serious roasting–in the myth, Loki basically crashes a party (where he had killed a guy earlier), plops down, gets drunk, proceeds to insult every single god there, and only leaves when Thor threatens bodily harm–but not before he goes, “Nice party, hope you enjoyed it, because everything you love is going to burn down.” And then he peaces out, the end. If you don’t love Norse mythology, you’re wrong.

I was reading about the Wild Hunt and how apparently, Odin Allfather was a typical father in that he refused to ask for directions during his annual Yule ride through the night sky, and instead of turning his fun, flying sleigh around or taking a slightly different route, he’d just plow on through the same route he always took, regardless of who or what was in his way. 

And if your house or land WAS in his way, he STILL wouldn’t reroute. He’d just burn the house down instead.

Which is THE funniest thing I have read in years. And it just got funnier when I pictured the whole thing turning into a buddy road trip with Loki and Odin and Sleipnir, and voila, a wild comic appeared.

Today's the day. It's offically been a year since I first prayed to Loki. A year since I first became a pagan. It was a crazy year. Hectic, to say the least. Is some of it Loki's fault? Hell yeah. But I don't regret praying to Him and welcoming Him into my life. Not one bit. I couldn't have anticipated what Loki would eventually mean to me. He's more than just the deity I pray to, and I plan to go more into that in March. March is an important month for me and Him, anyhow. Either way, I love Loki tremendously. Sure, He can be a complete pain in the ass, but at least I can say that He's my pain in the ass. Here's to many more years with Him. Happy yule.
