I was wondering if you may know of a fic that I seem to have misplaced in AO3.
It's a kid fic where Jim has a kid with a Vulcan woman, but when she dies, (giving birth I think), Jim raises his son while atending the academy.
After the events of 2009, when Jim boards the Enterprise, they have to transport vulcans to the new colony.
There's some Uhura bashing, since she doesn't like him and doesn't really respect him, Sarek sees how she treats Jim and he definitely doesn't like it. She does come around, not BFF kind of change but being nicer.
One scene I do remember is a moment when Spock and her are having a meal together, Jim comes to talk to Spock about something and she gets angry because he's interrupting their time together. (To be honest I think she's a bit ooc)
If I'm not mistaken some of the other vulcans want to take Jim's child from him because they believe he's not capable of raising him correctly because he'sand emotional human.
I really hope this is enough info for you to help me, it's been a while since I read it and I can't, for the life of me remember either the title nor the name of the author. 😭

Jim has an adopted Vulcan daughter who survived Tarsus with him, he has to fight to keep her,and I seem to remember Uhura is completely unimpressed with everything James T. Kirk. It's been a hot minute since I read it, but I remember the relationship building was really good, between Jim and his daughter and also between Jim and Spock, oh, and also between Spock and Jim's daughter. This one is a big found family fic, as well.
