What's one thing you regret saying/doing in a previous relationship?
āNo, donāt worry. Youāre an amazing kisser.ā No, it was like getting my face eaten off. I should not have encouraged him. Many regrets.
12
How many people have you ever hooked up with?
Wow, Nonny. Really going for the gut punch, arenāt you?
I want to say that Iāve only hooked up with someone once? And it was a bad idea that makes me want to throttle seventeen year old me?

When you are dating someone do you believe in going on "breaks"?
It depends on the reason why we're going on a break. If you are going on a break because something really bad happened in one of your lives and you just need to focus on that, that is fine. Generally, however, when people say "we need a break" that is code for "I'm not into this relationshipĀ anymore". So, yeah. It depends on the reason and the person.

Finn considered Emreās words for a moment before laughing.Ā āThatās a solid no,ā he answered. Even back when theyād actually started dating, past all the tribulations it took to even get that point, heād still been in denial.Ā āSometimes⦠I still donāt,ā he added. Finn was far too lucky. Itād nearly been a year but sometimes he couldnāt help but feel a bit insecure.Ā
āMaybe⦠we can go next summer?ā Finn asked when Emre finished. He really wanted to meet Emreās family. Not just because it was Emreās, but because Finn sometimes wondered what a family like that looked like. Finn loved his dad more than anything, but it was so so different. The closest he had to a big family were the other kids at the orphanage, most of which had since grown up and moved on, as well as Emilyās family.Ā āI want to see it all,ā Finn smiled. Even just seeing Emre so happy talking about it made him excited.Ā
Finn was about to help Emre off the couch, but the other had different plans.Ā āOne opt-ā heĀ was about to question, but didnāt get to finish his thought. It didnāt take much pulling before Finn tripped over his own foot, landing square onto Emreās lap. Even though heād been braced to pull Emre up, his boyfriend was quite obviously the stronger one between the two of them. Very very obviously. Shirtless Emre made Finn want to die. In the good type of way.Ā
Honestly, Finnās first instinct was to apologize, but Emre had him in a bear hug before he could even say anything.Ā Thank the heavens that Emre couldnāt couldnāt see his face, because Finn was pretty sure it was an embarrassing shade of pink by now.Ā āS-stay?ā he answered, voice unsteady. How was he supposed to think when he could barely breathe? Finn wasnāt sure if it was because Emre was hugging him so tightly or because of well⦠everything else. Not that he actuallyĀ minded that much.Ā
Finn was dense, but this was far too obviously less than innocent. If they werenāt in this position heād have thought otherwise, probably say something stupid likeĀ āOh⦠like play Mario Kart?.ā Hah. Good one Finn.Ā Part of him wanted to freak out. Then he remembered what he told Emre. No more freak outs. Yep. He had said that. What a stupid thing to say. Emre was going to make a liar out of him. Determined to keep his promise, Finn wriggled his arms free and wrapped them around Emre, resting his head on the otherās shoulder.Ā āO-okay.. letās stay,ā he answered,Ā āWhat.. do you want to do?āĀ
Finn didnāt care what they did really. Quite frankly, heād be happy just sitting here for the rest of the night, compromising situation or not. In fact, he was currently playing with the tag on the back of Emreās shirt just to forget that compromising situation. Yep. Everything was fine. No. More. Freak. Outs. Finn swore it was becoming his new mantra.Ā Ā
āNext summer it is,ā Emre agreed, smiling his crooked smile. āJust be prepared ā my Mom is very overbearing and will probably try and stuff you with every food on the planet. She thinks that it is her greatest failing that I am not three hundred pounds, and you are a twig compared to me so... yeah. Good luck.ā He patted Finn on the shoulder, hoping that this revelation didn't scare him off.
If that scared Finn off, though, the fact that Emre had pulled him back down onto the sofa was probably going to terrify him half to death. Or fully to death, though hopefully not that extreme. If he had thought this out a bit better, Emre probably wouldn't have done this. Finn was skittish and dense at the best of times, and putting him in a situation like this was probably asking for disaster. But nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?
āYep. Staying is definitely a valid option,ā Emre agreed, noting the unsteadiness in Finn's voice. For all of Finn's naivety, he wasn't an idiot. He could tell that Finn knew that they were in a compromising situation, and Emre had to give him credit for not immediately bailing. Emre also knew that he had to be careful here, because for all Finn's progress the last thing that Emre wanted to do was scare him off.
Moving so that they were in a more comfortable position, Emre pulled Finn down onto the couch so that they were laying face to face, arms wrapped around each other. āHow about, for now, we just stay like this?ā he asked, pressing his forehead against Finn's.

Finn hadnāt expected Emre to be so⦠surprised? Caught off guard? Well, maybe he should have. The question was a bit out of nowhere. Unfortunately, his last effort to ditch the conversation as soon as he brought it up was interrupted by Emre pulling on the back of his shirt. Stopping, Finn turned around to face the other again.Ā āSorry⦠didnāt mean to bring it up so suddenly,ā Finn apologized, realizing he almost literally killed his boyfriend by causing him to choke on his coffee.Ā
Honestly, Emreās answer was a bit⦠disappointing? Maybe that wasnāt the right word. Finn wasnāt really sure what answer heād wanted. On one hand, if Emre had said yes, heād probably freak out about getting married and what that meant and really just⦠wow. On the other hand, if heād said no, he probably definitely would have actually been disappointed. Realistically, aĀ ākind ofā was probably the best. It meant they were on the same page, having only thought about it because of the dare.Ā
Finn had just assumed heād probably just grow up and marry Emily like their families thought. Well⦠that hadnāt worked out for obvious reasons. Since then, he hadnāt thought about it much himself.Ā āWe⦠donāt have to figure this out right now,ā Finn said quietly. Probably the most reasonable thing heās ever said concerning their relationship. If it was overwhelming for Emre well.. it was basically a heart attack waiting to happen for Finn.Ā
Finn couldnāt help but laugh at the last part.Ā āWell, weāll have to plan a trip to Australia soon then, wouldnāt want to disappoint Imam,ā he said jokingly. A trip to Australia, yes. A wedding ceremony? Well, not this time.Ā
āOkay, no more freak outs tonight. I promise,ā Finn said, offering his hand to Emre to pull him off the couch,Ā āCan we⦠go on our date now?ā He was aware heād wasted a solid amount of time worrying about things he didnāt need to. Well, what else was new?Ā
Emre could tell by the look on Finn's face that his answer was not entirely what he wanted to hear, but then again Emre was pretty sure that Finn didn't know exactly what he wanted to hear at this point. If Emre got down on one knee and proposed in that moment, Finn would probably die. So there was really no winning there, all he could do was try and keen Finn from having a panic attack. Which, in and of itself, was kind of challenging.
Reaching over, Emre took Finn's hands in his, just holding them. "We've got all the time in the world to figure this out, Finn. Just because we don't have things all planned out now doesn't mean that things won't work out in the future. I mean," Emre smiled, giving Finn's hand a quick kiss, "if someone told you that we'd be dating like this a year ago, would you have believed it?"
At the very least, Finn's panic seemed to have been averted, and he was actually laughing. "Yeah, no. Our Imam has the kind of face that you really don't was to disappoint? Kind of like a puppy dog, except he favours cats. He's a cat person." Emre laughed, "I think you'd love Australia. Juni and I could show you all our old stomping grounds, and you could meet Maia. Though Maia already loves you, even if she's only met you through Facetime."
Emre nodded when Finn assured him that there were no more freak outs, offering Emre a hand to help him to his feet, asking if they could go on their date. "That is one option," Emre agreed, taking Finn's hand and making like he was going to get up, but instead pulled Finn back down into Emre's lap, nuzzling Finn's neck before going in for a full boa-constrictor hug. "Or we could just stay here a while."

huckle-berry-finnianā:
Yep. Finn liked kissing Emre too. Heād probably like a lot more than that too if he could get over his awkwardness regarding Emre without a shirt on. To be honest, he didnāt really believe that Emre had actually forgotten anything overly important, after all he was the one between the two of them with the better memory. But that didnāt really matter.Ā āI believe you,ā Finn smiled.Ā
Finn looked down at his outfit. Sweatpants and one of Emreās t-shirts. His hair was probably sticking up a bit from falling asleep earlier too. A bit embarrassed he looked back to the other,Ā āOh⦠right. Iāll go get dressed. Be right back!ā Finn slipped into their bedroom before shutting the door and changing into a pair of jeans, his own t-shirt, and a warm sweater. Definitely more public appropriate.Ā
After quickly brushing his hair, and spraying a bit of cologne for good measure, he returned to the living room where Emre was still on the couch. On the side table, his coffee and donut. Heās been so wrapped up in the moment heād nearly forgotten about that too. Settling on the couch with Emre, he figured they werenāt really in any rush to leave anyway.Ā āThanks for the coffee, by the way,ā he said, reaching across the other to grab his things. Luckily, Timmies was known for making their drinks impossibly hot anyway, so by now it was perfect drinking temperature.Ā
While munching on his donut, a thought came to mind. One heād been avoiding far too long. Ever since it came up the first time.Ā āHey Emreā¦Ā ā Finn started, unsure of how to really go about it,Ā āHave you ever thought about getting married?.. I mean.. not as a joke on Facebook.ā When the dare had first come up, heād been too preoccupied with dealing with their parents that he hadnāt really had time to freak out about it. But now⦠well.Ā Ā
Suddenly Finn realized how this sounded.Ā āI mean. Wait. No. Not right now. This isnāt uhā¦ā he stopped. Would Emre even want to marry him? Finn. Stop. Heād already had one minor freak out today, he was sure Emre didnāt want to deal with another.Ā āNever mind. Forget I said anything,ā he backtracked, finishing off his donut and half the coffee.Ā āReady to go?ā Finn asked, moving to get up to get his jacket.Ā
Emre watched with a bemused expression as Finn hurried off to change into some more public-appropriate clothes. Not that anyone would be able to see the fact that he was wearing one of Emre's T-shirts and a pair of sweats under the required bundle of jackets, sweaters, and scarves, but still. He figured that most people didn't want to go out in slept-in clothes unless they had to.
Picking up his coffee from where he left it, he waited patiently for Finn to return. Once Finn returned, claiming a seat next to Emre on the sofa before thanking Emre for picking up the coffee, Emre grinned into his drink. "You're welcome. We don't go out for coffee very often, so I figured bringing some home would be a good compromise."
"Mmmm?" Emre asked, raising his eyebrows when Finn started to ask his question, though his expression changed from 'go ahead, ask your question' to Emre nearly spitting his coffee all over Finn. Nearly. Somehow, he managed to only choke on his coffee and avoid spilling - or spitting anything.
Coughing for a moment, Emre put his coffee down, turning to look at Finn who, again, looked as though he were about to have a panic attack. He was also getting ready to flee, so Emre caught him by the back of the shirt to prevent him from running away. "Waitwaitwait," Why was he doing this? No idea. Really, this was not a conversation he wanted to be having, so letting Finn flee was probably the wiser option. Unfortunately, Emre was not wise. So, here they were.
"I knew that dare was going to come back to bite me," Emre sighed, letting go of the back of Finn's shirt. Running a hand over his face, Emre shook his head. "I mean, kind of? Not really? I don't know, it just never was something that really came up." Other than Finn, he'd only ever been with someone for a year once before, and that had been before gay marriage had been legal in Australia, so it was not something he needed to worry about. Of course, he was not going to mention this reasoning to Finn. Emre could almost hear the cogs turning in his boyfriend's head right now. "I already changed my status back to 'in a relationship', for the record. I figured it was time when my mom started asking if our Imam back home could perform a proper ceremony."

Emre wasnāt entirely sure why he even got surprised when Finn forgot things or missed the point entirely sometimes, but somehow he still was surprised when Finn asked him what the special occasion was. He squinted at Finn, trying to determine if Finn was pulling his leg or not. After a moment of taking in the panicked look on Finnās face, he came to the conclusion that he had, in fact, forgotten Valentineās Day.
āOh, uh,ā Emre said slowly, not entirely sure how to broach this topic. Rubbing the back of his neck ruefully, Emre glanced at the calendar. Maybe heād gotten the date wrong? Nope. It was definitely Valentineās Day. In the grand scheme of things, it wasnāt really even that big of a deal. After all, he had spent most Valentineās Days single in the past, and it was just a day. But given the explosion of hearts, chocolates, and flowers that had been going around in the week leading up to it, Emre was kind of surprised that Finn was even capable of missing it.
āItās, uh, Valentineās Day?ā Emre said, and he could practically see the panic getting ready to explode behind Finnās eyeballs. āNononono, no need to panic. Itās all good, itās all good. Please donāt panic.ā
Oh. OHH. Finnās mind flew into a flurry of thoughts. Was it really Valentineās day?? RIGHT NOW? He had half a mind to run and check the calendar for himself, but it wasnāt as if Emre would lie to him like that. Finn was about to really start panicking, but Emre was already preemptively doing damage control. Taking a deep breath he tried to smile, though it probably looked forced.Ā āOkay. Okay. I wonāt panic. Nope. I wonāt do that. I mean. I only forgot our first Valentineās day together. No big deal at all. Itās totally fine. Yep. Everything is a-okay,ā he said, trying to avoid looking at Emre for the moment. He was pretty sure if he did he would completely lose it and then he really would start panicking.Ā
Many would say Finn was dense. Well⦠everyone would say that most likely. Especially now. Finally regaining his composure a little he stood up from the couch and took Emreās hand while looking down at the floor.Ā āI didnāt really forgetĀ completely. Actually I was thinking about it a lotā he explained,Ā āI got so caught up in planning something I didnāt even realize it was already today. Iām sorryā¦ā Even though Emre had told him it was fine, he still wanted to apologize. He did spend part of the day napping after all.Ā
Looking up to Emre, Finn finally smiled properly.Ā āHappy Valentineās Day. I love you,ā he said, settling on simple words. He remembered the first time theyād said those three words to each other. Oh boy. Finn could have exploded on the spot. Even now he still got embarrassed saying it out loud, but today was special.Ā As for today, the two had never really been extra in aĀ āgo-all-outā way anyway.Ā āWe could⦠go to the festival? I mean. If you want. It might be fun,ā he suggested, trying to make up for his forgetfulness.Ā
Yep. He had called it. A, Finn had forgotten about Valentine's Day. B, he was panicking. He was definitely trying not to panic, which Emre had to give him credit for, but the fact of that matter was that Finn was a terrible liar, and he was even more terrible at hiding his feelings. And he was panicked. And felt bad. And now Emre felt bad for even bringing this up.
āFinn, it's fine, I promise,ā Emre said, āWe all forget these things. I have forgotten many, many dates far more important than Valentine's Day.ā Had he? Maybe? He actually didn't know, but he was sure if he thought hard enough he probably forgot something.
He watched Finn as he took his hand, obviously trying to recover and claim some footing in the current situation. āI am sure you did,ā Emre assured Finn, and he did believe it. Finn was dense, yes, but he was human. It was pretty much physically impossible to not notice that Valentine's Day approaching, though it was certainly possible to forget the exact day. ābut like I said, it's okay. Really.ā
Smiling, he leaned in and kissed Finn, soft and gentle, before pulling Finn into another hug. āI love you, too,ā Emre murmured before releasing him and taking a step back. āAnd I would love to go to the festival with you.ā Then, he dropped onto the sofa. āOnce a certain Mr. lazypants gets himself ready.ā

If there was one thing that Emre had learned over the past couple years of first getting Finn to realize that Emre liked him in the first place and then dating, it was that sometimes you had to be spontaneous and/or make executive decisions if you ever wanted to get anything done. Including actually going on dates. And, since this was their first Valentineās Day as a couple, Emre wasnāt about to leave it up to luck, especially not with a certain someone hovering around, ready to swoop in at his slightest misstep.
He also knew that sometimes the little things were nice, since Finn seemed to get overwhelmed by pretty much everything when it came to the romance or romance-related departments. Dealing with Remi? Overwhelmed. Figuring out how to flirt? Overwhelmed. Function like a regular human being whenever Emre didnāt have a shirt on? Double overwhelmed. It was sweet and endearing in a very Finn-ish way, and it at least gave Emre a fairly simple place to start.
āHey,ā he greeted Finn as he came back into their apartment, balancing a drink tray and a bag of donuts in one hand, keys in the other. āI went for a Timmies run,ā Emre explained, kicking the door shut behind him before putting the drink tray down on the nearest table. Leaning in, he gave Finn a quick hug before holding up one of the steaming cups and one of the bags, āI got your usual.ā
@huckle-berry-finnian
Finn looked up from the book he was reading on the couch to the sound of Emre entering the apartment. āHey,ā he smiled to his boyfriend. It was still weird calling him that. Even thinking about it gave him butterflies. Had they been dating for almost a year? Yeah sure. Though, really, he hoped the feeling would never go away. Finn was happy taking it slow. He was pretty sure his heart would explode otherwise. Bless Emreās patience with his antics.Ā
Heād only just woken up less than an hour ago from an impromptu nap and when he had, the other had been gone. Not that, that was reason to be concerned, but it was odd waking up to a quiet apartment. Disentangling himself from the blankets heād buried himself in, Finn hugged Emre back. Hugs were his favorite. Emre always smelled good.Ā
Finn hadnāt even taken notice of the things Emre had been carrying until he explained.Ā āWas wondering where you were,āĀ Finn said, finally letting go of the other, letting Emre pass him a drink and a donut. Peeking inside the bag, it was indeed his favorite. Canadian maple donut and a french vanilla coffee.Ā āSo⦠some sort of special occasion or something? You donāt usually just go for coffee..ā he started. They usually made their coffee at home and only went to Timmies on special days. Oh dear God. What had he missed.Ā
Finn looked up at Emre. His face was probably a good indication of his internal panic.Ā āDid I⦠forget something again?āĀ
Emre wasn't entirely sure why he even got surprised when Finn forgot things or missed the point entirely sometimes, but somehow he still was surprised when Finn asked him what the special occasion was.
