The king of demons has one (1) redeeming quality and it’s showing up to his meeting with the lower ranks dressed as a woman.

Absolutely love him for this. He summons his five remaining lower moons to basically obliterate them and he looks so feminine that they don’t even recognize him at first. Hair pinned up, lipstick, clothes, confidence, he has it all. Especially given the way women were treated during this period in history it’s delicious that he committed so hard.

One of my favorite things about Demon Slayer is that it doesn’t skirt around the topic of violence.

I think it’s important when creating a story set in a period of war to include the harsh reality about war and violence as well as the highs of being a hero. I appreciate that Demon Slayer shows Tanjiro’s calluses and fatigue. That when they get thrown into a wall they break bones. That members of the Demon Slayer corps are lucky to live to be 25. That war is associated with despair and loss. I love that the show is so balanced in this way.
