The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.

We mourn profoundly of a cherished Sovereign and much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.

The Queen was criticized for being cold and distant with her children. And now Kate is being criticized for being too caring. I guess us women just can’t win, can’t we?

If I were a kid (heck and if I were an adult) and my great-grandmother had died (on my first day at a new school, no less!), I’d have wanted to have my mum with me.

Besides, I’m sure if she’d gone she’d have been criticized by the same people criticizing her decision to stay with the kids.
