Okiedokie little ducklings. Responses and starters will be posted in the morning when I am not so stupidly sleep and a titch tipsy. Goodnight!
Fall Before the Rise [Bloodofheavenandhell]
Maybe this was a dead end. That she read the note wrong and her client wasn’t ready to bite the dust just yet. Borden Street could look a lot like Bouchard Boulevard if you squinted hard enough and maybe rubbed the ink off the last letters. With an exasperated sigh Eva trekked along the creaky stairwell of the apartment. The only residents that she could hear were the light scurrying of rodents and wicked howling of alley cats hunting for their next fix. The only thing that kept her here was the fact that it was an obviously dangerous place to be, and if anyone ventured too far there was no calling for help. Again she peered at the note in her hand. Hell if she knew what the scrawled writing meant.
“Why does this keep happening!?” She screamed into the once thought empty building, the scuttling from earlier echoing louder as the claws against metal bolted away from the sudden noise. Tired of this sketchy building and as far up as she could go before the stairwell looked as if it wouldn’t hold her weight, Eva turned on the heel to go down, the click of her heels sounding in pairs. Her ears perked and she could feel her heart beat in her chest quicken. When she stopped, the second pair of steps did not. Heavy and far from animal, she couldn’t tell if they were coming up or down. This could be her client, but without a hiding place or proper bearings she panicked.
Daring the last set of stairs, she sidestepped along the edge of it, trying to keep on the side where the structure was most stable.Tripping up on the last step and barreling forward, her hands saved her fall but her palms skid along the rusted metal of the worn floors, her fingertips touching the tips of unfamiliar boots.
Writing up Para starters. Like if you want one fitted to you.

“For the book or the name? You should really be more specific.” There was the usual snark Damien was known for. “Apparently you should be more specific with just what it is that you do as well. Vagueness doesn’t suit anybody.” That is until Damien felt like being annoyingly vague. “You know, everybody believes that the child doesn’t know anything. But you’d be surprised at what I know about people. What I see in them. You’re no exception.”
“What if I were to delay Mr. Richardson? Keep his flight preoccupied, cause some traffic with an accident, keep him from reaching here. I could do it, I’ve done less. I imagine that might throw your plans for ‘repossession’ for a loop.” Damien stated, that bored tone never changing.
Tapping her finger on her chin, Eva mulled over the sarcastic question, in the end giving it an honest answer. “Both seem perfectly acceptable to me. I get to expand my reading list and I don’t have to bother taking up anymore peoples precious time.” At the mention of the vagueness, she nearly laughed. “Not from what I’ve seen. People don’t listen- they wait to talk, and even if I did get into specifics about my employment no one would believe what I do for a living. Not that it pays. Of course it has it’s benefits. I mean, nobody misses worldly possessions once they’re no longer here.-” It was only the will she had to be weary of, though for safety sake she never took anything that seemed to have any sentimental value.
With a slight grin, the Reaper shook her head, “Everything is fated from what I can tell. If not tomorrow I will see him in a few months, maybe a year or two. I will get my payment in the end. You would just be delaying the when.” Simple as anything, this client would merely go onto the back burner for another day. Humans were merely mortal after all.
Lost || Cinder & Eva
Cinder listened to the woman as she put into words almost exactly how Cinder had been feeling the last few days on her own.
“It’s not fair at all,” she agreed, managing the tiniest of smiles. When she was offered to accompany the other, however, the smile faded to a look of awe. She had known this woman for all of two minutes and she had shown Cinder more kindness than she had seen in years. Eagerly, she nodded.
“Yes,” she replied softly, her voice quiet out of habit, “Yes, I would like to, but I’m not the best with directions,“ she admitted, glancing away, hoping that wouldn’t be enough for the woman to take back her invitation. “I’ve rarely been outside at all for… well, a while. I don’t really know my way around— o-oh, Cinder, my name is Cinder.” she murmured, still protectively wrapped up in her own arms.
The temptation to give her the clothes off her back and wrap her up in whatever could be found was alarming, her empathetic nature reminding her all too clearly of how Cinders situation felt. She would have given anything for a strangers kindness when the soles of her shoes were walked thin and her stomach screaming for sustenance. “That makes two of us- Let’s call it an adventure. Hm?” Surely Manning road couldn’t be too much further. A handful of lefts, a few retraced steps and maybe some actual directions from a Gas Station employee.
At the prompt of her name, Eva couldn't help the words to follow after with a small giggle, “ashes to ashes and dust to dust.” She smoothed down her dress as she did so, the grime of the city flickering off and onto the asphalt. “Not a typical name I must admit. Come along, we’ll walk and talk. Maybe grab a bite, all this mindless wandering has got me famished”.
Starting along back in the original direction she was headed, Eva only looked back once to make sure her new companion was following along behind.
Lost || Cinder & Eva
Cinder watched, partially hidden in the shadows as a woman stepped forward. For the most part, she didn’t seem threatening or like she wished Cinder any harm, and so the small girl’s tense shoulders relaxed a bit.
“Oh,” Cinder replied, arms coming around herself as a gentle breeze gave her a chill. “I’m sorry, I suppose I’m a bit skittish. You’re lost too?” she asked, looking to the other with wide eyes, wondering how similar, if at all, their situations were.
“Understandable. When you’re lost the world just seems like it’s getting bigger and bigger with every step. Blocking old paths and tossing unwanted obstacles in your way. Hardly fair if you ask me” She spoke softly, the weight of her words holding a harsh contrast to the tone. Oh, how the wanderers searched for a place of consistency, and those stuck in routine would give anything to break free of it. The grass was always greener it seemed.
Nodding her head at the question, Eva looked over the others shoulder in hopes to catch a street sign. “I’m almost sure I’m lost. But I figure if I go straight long enough I’ll find a familiar road. Want to keep me company?” She couldn't offer much at this exact moment, but if they ended up at the desired location at the very least she had a roof for the other. Maybe a couch if she could remember the layout properly. “Eva, by the way. I’m headed to Manning Road if you know of it.”

open || Cinder & ____
“H—Hello?” Cinder called into the dark. Perhaps running away from home with no idea of where she was going had been a bad idea. It was a horrible idea, actually. It had been days since she’d had a proper meal or shower and she had unknowingly stumbled into a less civil part of town.
“Who’s there?”
Finding a temporary home was so much simpler in an area where no one asked questions. Low profile, usually furnished, albeit a little sketchy, Eva figured she could make due on this side of town. Losing herself several times before she found hints that she was on the right path to her most recent apartment, Eva heard a small voice in the distance.
Following it she found a rather scared looking individual, fair enough considering where they were. “Oh, you poor dear. I’m just another lost soul trying to find her front door. I must admit it’s not going as well as I hoped-” Trailing off, she waved her hand to nullify any worries, maybe two heads would be better than one in this case.
Damien glanced up only to look at the card. “Two houses down, but you’re out of luck. He left for vacation last week, not sure when he’ll be back.” He raised an eyebrow at the impromptu introduction. “I’ll try to remember that, but like I said, I’m bad with names. Damien.” He inclined his head slightly as he introduced himself, keeping his page marked as he held up the book, showing off the cover. “Paradise Lost.” He chuckled to himself, appreciating the small irony in it. “Mrs. Baylock insists that I read it. She’s my guardian. It is an interesting read. If not a bit lengthy.” Damien leaned back, setting the book to the side. “Why did you need that name? You didn’t know where he live, you obviously aren’t friends. So why?”
Scanning over the cover when shown, Eva had to admit she had never taken the time to read it, though she would remember to mark it on her ever growing/ seemingly never shrinking list of things to do. “Noted. I’ll keep it in my memory bank. Thank you, Damian.”
Tomorrow evening before 6:17 is when S. Richardson would be home. That much information she was sure of. “I’m something of a repossession agent, I was called to collect something of his. It’s easier for me to collect when I can speak to him first and well- Know where he lives.” With a small shrug of her shoulders, she flicked her hand to pass over the whole conversation. It was not an affair Damian needed to delve too deep into.
Damien watched her with mild curiosity, but the book in his lap took his attention once again. “I’m not so good with names.” He replied in a bored tone, eyes scanning the pages in front of him. “But I suppose I can help.” If nothing else, it would send her on her way again quickly enough. He didn’t like being bothered. “What name are you looking for?”
Delighted to have at least one cooperative person on her side, Eva unfolded the small note she had in her hand. “S. Richardson? If it rings any bells, excellent. If not I suppose I’ll either continue my search or find another way to kill time.” She fiddled with the corners of it, attempting to smooth out all the creases that she pressed into the paper. “Eva, in case you were wondering. Strangers don’t usually just enter peoples houses, and now we’re not. What is it you have there anyway?” She couldn't help but inquire, the little book he held had to have been interesting if it captured his attention so fully.

“Visitors aren’t usually welcome here.” Damien commented, barely giving the stranger a second glance. “I’m surprised my guard dog hasn’t kicked you out. What reason do you have to be here?”
“Merely looking for a name so I am better equipped for tomorrow. But I have seemed to have wandered a little too far. My sincerest apologies, but I promise this is simply a work related intrusion.” Everything could be easily passed as such, and honestly it wasn't a stretch this time around. The street name she was given matched this address, and to waste the day Eva saw no harm knocking on all the doors hoping for a lead.

One Too Many
“Oh no no, no. I’m at just the right amount.” Words on the brink of slurring, Eva had just enough colourful drinks with fruity names to switch to straight tequila without pursing her lips and wincing at the mere scent. Half a bottle in hand, she swirled it like you might wine, though the classiness wasn’t quite there.
