Coca leaves are offered in the airport for a reason: partake of them liberally people!
Chew don’t swallow. Hold the leaves in the pocket of your jaw and let the juices take that headache right away.
*One caveat, your tongue and or throat might get a little numb. But it’s better than the headache, nausea, and disorienting effects of altitude sickness.
Coca tea is available for purchase and easy to get
Coca lozenges are also available
Other ways to combat altitude sickness:
Stay hydrated, drink as much as possible
Eat small meals full of protein and carbs
Rest for the first day, lay down before heading out to explore this wonderful city so steeped in culture and history!!
