Another Encounter with God
After my divorce, I was driving down Highway 101, enjoying a leisurely drive back from Monterey, California. The Lord spoke to my spirit and told me that He wanted me to call my ex-wife and tell her that I would help her with any repairs she needed in her home. Now you can imagine what I was thinking, and I said: “God, this is not fair. She buys this place behind my back before she divorces me, and it needs a lot of repair work, and You want me to go over there and help her? The Southwest Believers’ Convention
During the summer of 2007, The Lord once again spoke to my spirit and said: “Will you please get out of My way so that I can help you.” He also said: “When you come out of this situation, you won’t be able to say anything but look what the Lord has done.” It was also during this same time that my sister, Minister Jessie Scott, who lives in Mansfield, Texas, just outside of Fort Worth, offered to purchase a round-trip airline ticket to Dallas for me to attend Kenneth Copeland’s Southwest Believers’ Convention in Fort Worth. At first, I was reluctant to accept her offer because I knew she was a widow and living on a retirement income. However, she was persuasive and knew, as I did, that I needed a fresh infusion of God’s Word. I was more than struggling; I was drowning in a sea of what I labeled as the three d’s: debt, despair, and desperation. As it turned out, accepting her offer was the best decision I could have made.

In my book, "Receiving the Promises of God," I lay out a ten-year struggle of waiting for a promise from God. I must say that Galatians 6:9 was an inspiring guide for me. There were many times during that period that the devil tried to get me to give up. The book describes my faith to manage one calamity after another. I knew I had heard God's voice and His promise to restore me. But more importantly, His promise was also written for me to read daily, which I did. As hard as those times were, I stayed the course and did not dig up the seeds I had sown. Many of you reading this post have sown good seeds into fertile ground, and you have been waiting a long time for your spiritual harvest. I don't know what trial(s) you are dealing with, but I do know that if you plant seeds into the Kingdom of God and practice Galatians 6:9, you will "Receive the Promises God." Plant your spiritual seeds like a farmer plants his crop. Pray over (water) those seeds daily and be patient for the harvest to come. For in due season if you faint not, your harvest will come.
