if my silly little illustrations get anyone to read the baru cormorant books i hope people getting into it know that Yeah it's about a lesbian getting into the messiest relationships with several other fucked up women but it's also a soul crushing series about how colonization brought about homophobia and transphobia and strips you and your culture of everything. so many parts of it are difficult for me to read it's like looking into a mirror of so many of my experiences as a lesbian living in a third world country. definitely one of my favorite books for that reason.
