genuinely asking for people to be normal about japan at this point. ive gotten anons calling japan "immune from orientalism" because it was an imperalist empire, people talking about how it'd be referred to as the "anime pedophile" country, the "unglazing japan" videos, whatever. then there's the "japan is so utopian and revolutionary for xyz quirky fun fact!" bullshit or the "thing, japan" which people basically use to be sinophobic. i'm so tired. can we GENUINELY just treat it like a normal country
Characters: Vampire Leader, Sheriff Agnus, Bella, Appleby, & Jerry
Song: The Light That Comes Through - Sparkbird
Ahhh! This idea has been running around in my head since Jazz Vampires came out, finally got around to it! Also the first time in a hot minute I've been able to cross off another long form off my list with the goal of making something for each longform one day, though at this point they come out faster than I make things lol (also keep making things for my favourite few but shush) This is also just my favourite Sparkbird song so love getting to use it for an edits. The flowers are the ones from the song art that I poorly bluescreened out.
Also I wasn't going to do this but I really wanna talk about some choices I made with colours so if ur curious check under the cut :>
So I really really love colour association with characters and that's usually pretty easy with sfth characters because the four members already have really strong colour associations (Sam as Red, Tom as Green, Luke as Yellow, & AJ as Blue) BUT besides the Vampire Leader (who will be called VL so I don't have to keep typing that out) being red, I didn't use any of those here and I wanna talk about why. I don't expect this to make total sense to y'all cuz it is kinda just vibes at the end of the day.
Sheriff Agnus, Blue: I gave him a lighter blue partly because it's kind of a cop out (hehe) to give any sort of officer blue. But also, people view red and blue as opposites in some cases (hot vs cold kinda thing) which works well with VL being red. But, they're more similar if you really think about it, just like Agnus and VL Blue and orange are complimentary colours, which works with him in Bella being family and working well together.
Bella, Orange: She's the light in this whole thing, a beacon of joy during all this chaos. She's brave, open, and curious. Hence, orange. Like I mentioned before, it's a complimentary colour to Angus's blue, and matches well alongside Appleby's peach.
Appleby, Peach: Okay the apple part of his name sold having some amount of red to his colour. It also is quite a bit lighter than everyone else's as a nod to the fact that he's new to the area. He's also got a layer of innocence almost, being quite oblivious to what really goes in the club. He just wants to make it big in jazz, impress the pretty girl who came by, and play music. It matching with Bella's is also just a nice touch.
Jerry, Green: Maybe part of this choice came from the fact that I just needed a unique color for him and Luke happened to be wearing green, that'll admit. But, a murky green also seems a fitting for an older man of an unknown age, someone with secrets to hide. Green is also sometimes considered an opposite to red (go vs stop, yes vs no, that stuff). And they don't feel as close as red and blue, you do still often find red and green paired together, you know?
Idk if those made any sense but thanks to whoever bothered to read all that :>
