âPublic libraries are such important, lovely places!â Yes but do you GO there. Do you STUDY there. Do you meet friends and get coffee there. Do you borrow the FREE, ZERO SUBSCRIPTION, ZERO TRACKING books, audiobooks, ebooks, and films. Have you checked out their events and schemes. Do you sign up for the low cost courses in ASL or knitting or programming or writing your CV that they probably run. Do you know they probably have myriad of schemes to help low income families. Do you hire their low cost rooms if you need them. Have you joined their social groups. Do you use the FREE COMPUTERS. Do you even know what your library is trying to offer you. Listen, the library shouldnât just exist for you as a nice idea. Thatâs why more libraries shut every year
If this post persuades even one person to get a free library account and use it, my time on this hellsite will not have been spent in vain

don't loose hope, there is love in life, there is community. people are coming together to protest all over the world, people are finding solidarity with each other even among the horror, people want to help. over the course of hours i saw hundreds come together from all over the world online to buy e-sim cards for the gaza reporters (they've succeeded in getting internet access to key online press reporters and are working to connect more), i've seen stories of people coming together in their grief and joy. despite the darkness there really is love. and i do believe that it is fundamental to the human condition.

one of the many reasons Fleabag is so heartbreaking and relatable is because no one ever chose her. Not her family. Not her lovers. Not her supposed âsoulmateâ. The one person that picked her died. She was no oneâs choice or option, not even to herself. The way we can feel her loneliness through the screen is enough to make me collapse into a mess of tears on the ground and shake uncontrollably

the saddest sight in the world is a married couple at a musical and the wife is super excited and happy and the husband looks like he was dragged along and heâs making a big deal about how much he doesnât want to be there and the wife gets embarrassed or ashamed. this isnât a funny post, itâs actually heartbreaking and i see it happen at like every other musical i attend.
Yeah, as an usher what makes me sad is when I see wives clearly dressed in their Sunday best, beaming and buying merch and smiling at me as I hand them a program, toting some guy dressed in jeans and a sweatshirt who declines a program. And thatâs at least a quarter of the couples who come in or more. Like come on man, she really loves this stuff, canât you try to enjoy it for her at least?
About as bad as when you see a big-eyed kid who looks like this is the greatest day of their life, all excited to see this show, and their parent/grandparent/aunt/Cousin/Friend/whoever they convinced to take them keeps making fun of them and saying how dumb or ridiculous theyâre being. For Gods sake, this is a person you care about and this is a thing that means a lot to them. Smile, get off your phone, and be happy for them.
This reminds me of the time I went to Universal Studios Hollywood for New Years - thatâs the time they have The Wizarding World of Harry Potter on. I was so excited and beaming! But the whole time my brother was talking about how me and everyone there is lame, how âonly weird people obsess over make-believe stuffâ literally taking the fun out of everything and making me feel bad for being overexcited. He brought up how I didnât even like Harry Potter until just recently and making me feel bad in general. Not one to be super emotional, but I seriously felt like crying because I wanted to be so happy but I had no one to share it with and the person I was there with was making me feel ridiculous for enjoying the thing I had been looking forward to for a long time. Youâre not cool when you put down other people for their interests, youâre just plain boring and a dick.

yo why do adults try to tell middle schoolers not to dye their hair or cut it weird or dress strange. Middle school is the most miserable time of anyoneâs life, let them have fun and get a mohawk or something. They donât have colleges to impress or a boss to worry about. Theyâre 12. Let them be less miserable with their blue hair and bad fashion (so long as itâs weather appropriate! I donât want anyone wearing only a tshirt and jeans in winter!!!) It wonât kill you to let your kid exercise some control over their appearance that literally will not follow them their whole lives. Who cares if your kid wants to wear unprofessional clothes. Theyâre a kid, they donât need to be professional.

Omg theyâre all so small and thirsty and they know where to go to get a drink why am i crying
Iâm not child/adult psychologist but I have this weird theory about parents (indulge me here lol): a LOT of people have children because they only like babies and small children. They love a child whoâs essentially a potato; easily handled, dressed up like an ornament, gets positive attention from those around them, cute and compliant etc. What they donât like/plan for is for that child to grow a little older and start developing their own personalities and start resisting their parents.
When I was in high school I used to hang out with a friend whoâs mother would ALWAYS bust out her baby pics and say âshe was so sweet as a baby. I donât know why sheâs such a monster now. I donât know where I went wrongâ. My friend also told me that her mom lavished attention on her as a kid but as she got older, her mom withdrew and became more cold and angry when sheâd resist things like putting on a dress or smiling etc (she saw the same thing with her younger siblings too. The older kids essentially left to fend for themselves/take care of the kids whoâd âaged outâ of cuteness). I think it also ties into when parents give their kids quirky names (ie: idk if you guys remember but a year or two ago a little girl went viral because her name was literally ABCDE -pronounced Ab-sidee), like theyâre naming a cute little baby and not thinking about a middle aged adult who may have to apply for a job.
Idk to make a long story short: a LOT of people are enamoured with helplessness/cuteness of babies (as well as the attention babies get) but not so much with when that child grows up to become their own person. TL: DR: everyone wants a baby, nobody wants a teenager.
Throw in the mixed baby fetish some people have and thatâs another can of worms. Especially once the child grows up and developes more âethnicâ features, ie: that loose curl gets coarser and that lighter skin starts to get darker

ADOPTION FUN FACT
If youâre adopted internationally into the United States, BY adoption LAWS youâre legally a citizen, but you still have to apply for documentation and if itâs not done by the age of 18 you have to pay over $500 and get a judge to reopen your adoption case.Â
Even More Fun Fact: No one actually tells adoptive families, this so many find out after theyâre 18 when their kid needs to get a passport, wants to apply for financial aid, get certain jobs, vote or some other shit that requires proof of citizenship and now itâs too late because theyâre 18 or over.Â
AND EVEN MORE FUN FACT! You can sometimes even be deported because you can be considered foreign-born, non-citizens!Â
Oh and they wonât accept adoption papers or a birth certificate as proof.Â
Adoption is FUN.Â
Do it now! Seriously. Even if you think you are safe. Do it.
Many people are finding that even a birth certificate is not valid proof anymore. Texas birth certificates are notorious. So notorious that I have 3 friends who canât use them to get passports! Donât think everything is hunky dory. You must nail down your citizenship.
http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/filling-out-form-n-600-application-certificate-citizenship.html
Plus the cost for your citizenship certificate is almost doubling this fall.
SIGNAL BOOST.
Some Naturalization/Citizenship Certificate tips from me, the person who front-end processes these forms for half the country: the passport people are absolute garbage at sending your Naturalization Certificate back to you. Unfortunately, they also require it for you to get a passport. If you donât get it back, whine at them about it and they will probably cover the cost of the replacement. Â
Also! It takes up to 12 months to get a replacement certificate. If you urgently need your Natz Cert to visit your dying relative in another country, the word you want to use is âExpediteâ. Not âASAPâ. Not ârushâ. Expedite. Write a letter explaining why you need it expedited, if you do. Otherwise the USCIS data-entry grunts (me!) arenât allowed to throw it into the expedite line and it gets relegated to the Backlog Crypts.Â
Also! You need to get a new Naturalization Certificate if your name and/or gender legally changes, because a lot of places want your proof of citizenship for things like Social Security and student loans and Medicaid/EBT/welfare benefits and driversâ licenses.Â
ALSO ALSO both the N600Â ($600) that you use to apply for your Naturalization Certificate in the first place and N565Â ($345) that you use to apply for a replacement certificate are eligible for FEE WAIVERS. Itâs called an I912. Learn it, love it, use it.Â
Please for your sake make sure you are using the current version of the form. The most common reason I have to reject an N565 is because someone sent me something that expired in 2013. The current one is seven pages long. Please send the government all seven of them.Â
Dont mind me, just running ass home and then to the government so I cant get deported.
ALL OF THIS. I used to work for an immigration firm, and getting it done after age 18 can be hella difficult. But also, NO ONE tells adoptive families this, and it sucks. Spread the word!
