Some Comic Tips

Do character reference sheets. They will save you!!! So much time!!! From correcting stupid, random outfit/hair changes.

Add backgrounds. It’ll bring readers into the scene and add depth to your story’s world. Plus it’s good perspective practice!!!

Always factor in speech bubbles. They are part of the composition, they help the comic flow, so make sure you plan them into your pages early on.

Make characters look toward the next panel. That’s literally the easiest way to make your page flow. Readers will follow the character’s eyes.

Big panels are for the important things. Readers naturally focus on them for longer, so fill them with intricate details and important information. Like a dramatic reveal or smoochin’.

Inktober Day 13: Ash Phoenix wasn't always a brilliant, vibrant red. He was born a dull, grey ash colour. In fact, his egg shell even crumbled into dust. When he's old he will return to that same ash colour.

...And no, he’s not bleeding, his wings are just glowing red, like a dim flame or embers.

Inktober Day 12: Dragon So if everyone in this world is an anthro animal what kinds of "regular" animals do they have? Answer: monsters... for lack of a better term. This one in particular is an axolgon (Axolotl + dragon). This is also a memorial for a soldier from Aldred De La Fountaine's rule.

Inktober Day 11: Snow "The hell…? Hey kid. Kid! You still alive?" Azura and Siku stumble upon a sick girl in a snowstorm on a mountain. What is she doing out in middle of a storm? (Almost put Siku in here, but didn't know where to put him)

Inktober Day 10: Pattern Icarus is covered in swirling patterns. Even his wings curl out. It's common for Crystalems (elementals) to have usual patterns and deformities.

Inktober Day 9: Swing

Azura's spear is specially made spring and chain loaded. She just twists one of the knobs in the middle and POP! The spearhead shoots out! It's got two heads, one for heavy attacks and the other for pulling objects and people towards herself.
