its been said before but this is a daily reminder that mental illness does not excuse toxic behavior
it can offer an explanation, but you cannot treat someone with cruelty and then just like “well sorry it’s my mental illness i can’t help it”
i don’t have a solution, because i know that mental illness by nature can be difficult or impossible to control, but do not let a friend or partner or parent or anyone be a dick to you and say that you have to put up with it because that’s just how they are
or even worse, guilt trip you about being upset with them
i am saying this as someone with a diagnosed mental illness that im on medication for:
mental illness does NOT give anyone the right to treat you badly
and if someone tries to excuse their toxic behavior by claiming it’s mental illness and they cannot help it, that’s a red fucking flag

for every high school student studying for ap tests:

make a to do list that actually works
block distracting websites
listen to calming sounds
go to a coffee shop to work in
make some healthy study snacks
motivate yourself to hit the books
learn pretty much everything
cram packets for every ap test
learn test taking strategies
calm down if you’re stressed
what to do when your day sucks
pull an all nighter and still be functional
be prepared the day of the test!
Rufus really shines amidst the fire and chaos of a world post-meteor. While attending parades or giving speeches, he seems like he’s engaging in nothin but vain, petulant grandstanding, a child trying to both emulate and eclipse his father’s legacy. Stripped of most of the politics and called upon to solve a dire problem, Rufus displays genuine courage and leadership alongside his considerable pride.
There’s no doubt that his leadership is extreme and somewhat brutal, but nevertheless, he coordinates and executes the only real effective assaults on meteor, weapon, and Sephiroth. The main party, when they’re not picking up the pieces of everything that’s been shattered, spends the disc responding to Rufus’ ambition, trying to mitigate Shinra’s potential for mass destruction and collateral damage. Even with their meddling, he manages to get a shot at meteor, take out both Diamond and Sapphire Weapon, and destroy the barrier around the Northern Cave. In the final summation, he’s been helping far more than hindering, forced into common interest by the crisis.
The way he dies comes to reflect the way he was living, and I think the things you really grow to respect him for. Rufus demonstrates unshakable tenacity and determination, meeting tremendous pressure and certain doom with a challenging stare and impossible calm. I’ve wondered why he didn’t evacuate his office when Diamond weapon started firing, but maybe that’s missing the point - Rufus shows us in his final moments that his his greatest strength and weakness is that he is utterly unyielding.
I have lost my Ned, the rock my life was built on.
I wonder if some of the Shinra troops in FFVII were like “ Oh hey it’s Cloud! Holy shit he actually made it SOLDIER! Wow good for him! Hey, how you’ve been budd - “
