so mingyu was involved in a small controversy with a few other idols which I'm not going to bother with details about bc they already apologized and ppl will probably forget about it in a week BUT I do want to call attention to the fact that Dispatch often releases idol related news/controversies very intentionally to distract from other important news in Korea.

today also happens to be the "Nth Room" prosecution, a big case involving cybersex trafficking in Korea. here's the Wikipedia article for a basic rundown, but I'd highly encourage you to look for other sources as well (though obviously don't force yourself if these are difficult topics for you)

I know it's easy as international fans to not know or even care about Korean politics, especially because we all have our own countries to worry about. and I don't even think we should get too involved since there's a lot we don't know. but even as international fans we are part of the instrument dispatch and other Korean news media uses to distract the Korean public from very important issues.

all I ask is that you be aware that this is happening, and whenever dispatch releases controversial news (including but not limited to dating rumors) you try to find out what they're distracting from or covering up, and spread the word about it. even if it's just one post or article. and if you can try to boost Korean voices first and foremost
