The thing is, I know doflamingo is an Evil guy but he also makes so much sense to me. He was a child when his parents threw away their titles but he had grown up to that point with the luxuries of a dragon. He went from being taken care of and every nerd thought of before he could experience them to hunted and starving would twist any mind.

As an older sibling you always feel a responsibility to your younger siblings and Doffy tried to carry that responsibility and shield and provide for Rosinante as much as he could and he failed him. Rosinante was lost to Doffy for YEARS and Doffy held that responsibility with him.

Because of the way Doflamingo grew up he had an us versus them mentality, you can see this in the families dynamic. He wants to protect “his,”and he doesn’t care who he hurt in order to do that. And every member of the family is his, whether the want to be or not, and a betrayal from them would have to personally be handled by Doffy, especially if that betrayal is his own brother.

Ok so English isn't my first language so sorry if this doesn't make much sense

Something, somehow it came to me when I was thinking about the North blue guys and I just realized, isn't Zeff the kind of father that Doffy expected from Homing? I don't remember much about the earlier arcs but what Doflamingo despised about his father the most was Homing's weakness and inaction. He was a Celestial dragon and had dreams of being a human but was naive to the reality of how they would be seen by humans and couldn't do anything but cry and apologize as the rest of his family gets hunted down. In Doffy's memories his father wasn't really present and it was just him and Rocinante. (Not saying Homing didn't do anything but he was really passive most of the time and never really took action.)

Zeff meanwhile was a Grandline pirate who had a dream(the all blue) but he had the strength to chase it and when he couldn't find it he didn't break down but moved on. But I just thought about how an interaction between those two would play out. Considering that Zeff is someone who always takes action and never goes back on his decisions(that time he and Sanji got stuck on the rock) and he's the sort of father you can depend on who takes care of his kid and sacrifices himself for them without complaint, and he doesn't want to make them worry/feel guilty so he puts on this show of strength so that Sanji would eat the food. That's the sort of father figure Doflamingo(and Rocinante) needed when they were suffering at that island in the North blue.

Ok now I'm wondering about a fic where Zeff meets and helps the Donquixote fam but I'm not sure how the logistics of that would go

I think the reason that Tomarry isn’t as popular as some other similar ships in the fandom is because it is impossible to have them as a side pairing.

You can’t just introduce a story and then randomly bring up: “Oh yeah, Harry Potter and Voldemort are a couple.” Everyone would be like: “SAY WHAT NOW?!?”

One cannot simply address these lunatics as a side-note. They are such a crazy pairing they need the full spotlight and a 50k+ word slow burn enemies to lovers arc to make any sense.

I want to add that I have read some fic that I felt were bad but they had something about them - story, theme, a specific moment, etc. - that was so interesting or chewy that I think about it to this day, even years later.

So what if you're not someone's next great author? You could also haunt their dreams and nightmares simultaneously, and be the ghost in their daydreams. Don't ever give them peace.
