a bunch of lore stuff i thought up about this piece under the cut ✂️

some "easter eggs": jgy is somewhat dead in the picture. more accurately, he's a ghost. if he seems yellow, i PROMISE im not racist, i just intended for him to have no blood flow bc well, he's dead. the blood on his chest is from a stab wound, and he has multiple bruises across the backs of his hands and on his collarbone. i kinda wanted it to be like a 'last known portrait of late jin sect leader jin guangyao' as if im talking about a real portrait of a real person LOLL.

or someone who was an eyewitness to his death painted what he looked like as if he were peacefully getting himself painted. more unnecessary lore, lan xichen probably fought to get this single positive rendition of jin guangyao after his death. either he painted it in secret or he desperately commissioned another artist. could nie huaisang have painted this? maybe he would have painted meng yao before, but that's all well and gone.

for my next art to want to sort of paint lan xichen wasting away in seclusion from the pov of wangji or like how wei wuxian dragged himself back out of the burial mounds looking as if he were a corpse. so many fun ideas 😌
