It all started in the backstage of an award show. Your changing rooms were right next to each other.
With a soft knock, Mingyu, Seungkwan, and DK stepped into your dressing room.
“Hello.” Seungkwan said, they all bowed their heads in perfect sync. “We know this is very random, but would you be up to make a TikTok with us?” He asked your band, a slight tremble in his voice.
Your guitarist, Kang, leaned close to your ear. “Is he afraid? Why does everyone in this building look at us as if we’re gonna bite their heads off…really?” Kang finished with a deep sigh.
You chuckled slightly at both, the boys nervousness and Kangs comment. You were thinking for a moment about Seungkwans request, meeting eyes with Dokyeom. Damn that boy’s got a face card. Anyway.
“What kind of tiktok?” You asked with curiosity lacing trough your voice, as you looked fleetingly back at DK, and realized hes already looking at you. Studying you. Dokyeom was fascinated by your messy eyeliner, your unique hairstyle and the large amount of jewelry you had on that clinged with every move you make.
Sure he saw you on youtube or tiktok, and yes you were pretty -his members teased him for drooling over you actually- but seeing you in real life…you took his breath away.
When he noticed youre looking at him he looked away, averting your gaze. Too late. You were already interested.
“We thought we could teach you our new dance break and film that? What do you think” Minguy answered. You shot a questioning look at the rest of your band. The three of them nodded.
“Sounds fun, lets do it.” Vadim, the drummer answered all of you. Mingyu and Seungkwan immediately gave each other a high five. Mingyu tried to high-five DK too, but DK's mind—and eyes—were somewhere else entirely
On you…
Learning the dance was a bit stressful for you all. Because dancing wasn’t really your bands thing, let’s be real. But you got through it and the video got uploaded.
After uploading, the backstage area dissolved into pure chaos. People were running everywhere, tidying up sets, and hunting down lost gear. Stepping out of the madness, you headed to the outdoor smoking area to light a cigarette in peace.
What you didn’t expect was Dokyeom to follow behind you. You looked up as he opened the door.
“Hi,” you said bloewing up a cloud of smoke “i thought you guys would be leaving already?” You voiced him your thoughts. He gave you a nervous, lopsided smile.
“Hah…uh yeah i started packing, but suddenly there were people everywhere and i needed some fresh air, because my mind gets a little lost in bigger crowds…i dont know why im telling you this, im rambling now, im sorry.”
You smiled at him, the tension melting. “No worries. I’m more of a listener anyway.”
Your voice went straight to his ears. He smiled a little bit. Such a sweet and honest smile.
“Okay.” DK added “oh..i actually dont think weve officialy ever met before,” he said as he stuck his hand out for you to shake. “Im Dokyeom.”
You let out a low laugh. “Heh…i know”. But when you see his smile fall just a tiny bit, you added “but anyway…” you slid your own hand, jewelry clinking with the movement, into his…very warm and slightly sweaty, hand. “Im y/n. Nice to meet you Dokyeom.”
That night, you lost track of time in the smoking area, talking about how wildly different your music tastes were. The conversation was effortless, but all too soon, the bodyguards politely asked you to wrap it up so they could lock the doors. You quickly exchanged numbers with a promise to stay in touich.
You grabbed your bag, threw it over your shoulder, waved him goodbye, and drove into the night.
Dokyeom was left standing under the dim street lamps light with only one thought left in his head:
“Why is she so intoxicating?”
