“Very not,” Adam retorts, as a definition for ‘charming’. Frowning, he furrows his brows as he watches Zach, folding his arms over his chest. When he returns, he raises a brow, “Firstly, you must have gotten lucky, no one likes potions,” he says, before pausing,”Okay, very few people enjoy potions, it’s a tough sell. And, honestly, I don’t think I will give it a proper try,” he says, licking his lips quickly, “I don’t even think I actually want anyone new to join.”
“Firstly, I gave them a white lie and told them it was like a muggle cooking class. Which is why I like it enough.” He glanced down at the sign up sheet and then up at Adam again. “Too bad, looks like you got new people to join all ‘cause of me.” He groaned and ended up lying down on the booth instead. “Then why be here if you won’t try? It makes no sense? See, the way I see it, is if you get someone to join, you won’t have to do this at all and you could make the other person do it. Not me. I’m already offering but I’m tired and this isn’t my club.” He shrugged lightly. “When are you off or whatever?”
adam stewart
When the other speaks, Adam almost smiles, but manages to remain as restrained as usual. Breathing in, he shakes his head, “What can I say? I’m incredibly charming, it must be said,” at the offer, he raises a brow and considers the other for a moment, “Help? What, will you knock me unconscious? Because, honestly, that would be spectacular.”
“Define ‘charming.’” Zach chuckled, only to cross his arms and hum thoughtfully. “Yes.” He said, nodding. “Yes, that was exactly what I was thinking of doing.” He snagged a few flyers and shook his head. “I’m not even in this club, so... this is obviously a rare moment. Be grateful.” Zach said, only to turn his back and stop a first year in their tracks, charismatic as he was, and waved them over to the booth. He gave Adam a smile and a thumbs up as they signed up, and he sat down on the table of the booth. “That’s how ya do it, folks.” He looked at Adam and shrugged. “You should give it a proper try.”
scorpius malfoy
Getting lost in his own thoughts and mind wasn’t rare for the sheepish blonde, it was actually quite common but nevertheless, it almost always resulted in him getting startled by others, almost as though he was asking for it. Chuckling once he realized it was none other than Zach, a smile caressed his features and he shook his head in mild disapproval. “I’m terrible with surprises, unless they include puppies..” he assured him. “Though I have a feeling they’d also have a way of startling me if they showed up unexpected, so maybe not…or yes, I’m definitely not opposed, but warning is always nice…” He quickly caught up with his train of thought, though still rambled away sloppily. “I was making some flower crowns, for no reason other than that I find it relaxing..” he admitted, cheeks flushing in embarrassment. It wasn’t what most would consider to be the most masculine of things to do be doing, but then Scorpius never lived up to the Malfoy name in that way, nor did any of them, in all truthfulness. “Of course, it’s my way of contributing to the beautiful game while still assuring I injure no one in the process…unless they found someone better, I hope not. Summer was good, a bit uneventful…my father was working a lot of it, so I didn’t get to spend as much time with him as I hoped, but I did get to travel a little with my aunt and her family…it was nice, but I felt a little out of place.” He admitted, scratching the back of his neck. “What about yours? I’m sure you had a far more exciting story to tell.”
“Shit, I wish I had a puppy for you, then.” Zach said. “For a lot of reasons but obviously to make you feel loads better. I’ll have to remember that for your birthday or something, then! And this is your warning.” He looked down at the flowers and smiled softly, seeing how it could be relaxing. Zach gave Scorpius a reassuring smile before squeezing his shoulder gently. “It’s all good, mate, don’t you worry about it. I want one, okay?” He pulled his hand back and picked at the grass lazily. “Hopefully they don’t find anyone better. You’re hysterical! A brilliant commentator. Even after I leave next year, I hope you’re still commentating. I doubt they’ll just replace you for no reason.” He pouted at Scorp, more sympathetic than anything since he knew how much Scorp just loved his dad. “Well that’s good. Well despite all that, at least you weren’t all alone? And anyway, you can always visit me or whatever during the summertime or I can come to you to bother you with puppies. I’ve actually always wanted to photoshop you onto a dog’s head because you remind me of a puppy—just super precious.” He flashed Scorpius a grin and hummed thoughtfully. “Mine? Mine was alright, yeah. Spent all my time trying to get my sister out of ridiculousness and apprenticing at Ollivander’s a bit. And... just visiting people! Like summer should be like. But I didn’t really travel so you’ve got me on that one.”
henry nichols
“I don’t have the time to wait until you shit my bagel out, Zachariah,” Henry grumbled and with a deep, theatrical sigh took another bagel. “Oh? Now you don’t want my help? All right, all right. That’s fine by me but I’ll remember that the next time you’ll come begging me to help you with something,” he mused and looked at Zach.
“Can you not call me by my full name, you runt? And sure you do, don’t exaggerate. Or just get another one!” Zach said. “Acting like it’s the end of the world, damn.” He rolled his eyes at Henry before sighing. “You and your pissy mood always. I don’t want your help if you’re going to be a prat when I know you’re not always a prat.”
anya boshea
“Exactly, it’s the start of term! There’s no sense is skipping Wizfest.” It was conveniently early enough to make fresh acquaintances and not worry about heavy homework hitting yet. “You know so much about it, it sounds like you used to be one of those people. All that overworking yourself is unnecessary. Napping is the best part.” Though she took them more than studying her textbooks, she hadn’t flunked out of the university as her parents expected, which was a small win. Anyone else and she would’ve torn that grin right off their face, but Zach passed as okay in her book. “That loser would be choking right now. I’m borrowing your food next time.” Anya happened to be a giant hypocrite since she had taken Zach’s food far more than he’s done with her plate. “Anyways, a bonfire–we’ll throw the best Wizfest party yet. It’ll be difficult to top next year.” By which point she’d be gone of course, but setting the bar high would be fun.
Zach gave Anya a look and furrowed his eyebrows. “I am one of those people.” And he was—proudly so, as humble as he was. Zach was just a hardworking student who got his stuff done as soon as possible and was very skilled and smart. It was why he was amongst the top of his year. “But I don’t overwork myself because I get all my shit done really fast. And then I have all the rest of my time to goof off while everyone’s procrastinating.” He grinned brightly at her again before laughing. This was just why he and Anya got along—their sense of humor was matched and they usually hated and tolerated more or less of the same people. And had each other’s backs during Quidditch, but that was evident. “You always take my food anyway. But yes, of course we’ll be setting the bar high for the parties to come. Nothing is going to top it.”

“I’m only a second year I have my own thing to plan for Wizfest. You fourth years are incredibly lazy, but fine. I suppose I can add on to my busy schedule - hey!” She swatted his hand away from her food. “Get outta here! I agree to help you and you swipe my food!? And here I had the perfect idea for what you could do to really spice up Wizfest this year.”
“I am the least laziest fourth year you will ever meet!” Zach said defensively, although, he said it thinking about schoolwork. Otherwise? He was a pretty lazy bloke. His hand retracted from her food as if electrocuted, and he pouted at her. “I apologize but damn are you mean!” He lightly rubbed the back of the hand she swatted before dropping the act and resting his chin in his palm, elbow on the table. “Fine, fine, tell me about your idea, Embry. Just no hitting me. S’not nice.”
thomas vanderbilt
Tommy shook his head and didn’t bother to reply because he was too busy trying to not let himself smile. If it were that easy to make people as happy as Zach evidently was right now then he would have considered giving people all his food earlier. “I don’t know how to plan parties. I only ever go to them if there’s free alcohol. What do people do?”
“Okay, well then it’s simple. As a party goer, what do you expect from said party other than free alcohol? That’s obviously a given but you know. If something were to blow your mind and all that, what would it be? We’re obviously trying to impress and I clearly want to impress only you.” He lightly joked about the last part, but it was his effort in hoping Tommy would give him an idea or two.

James put his arms around Zach’s shoulders and gave his cheek a massive smooch before he pulled away from him, still grinning ridiculously. “You didn’t invent me. My parents did. And I would still say that in front of Boyfriend, you know I would.” And it was true considering he had absolutely no filter and just blurted out inappropriate shit at the wrong time. He was surprised no one had ACTUALLY cursed him yet. “He’s good but I’ve decided my Mum is the best. I have double talent from them.”
Zach hugged James right back and couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped him. “I invented you in other ways, you know that.” He pulled back and roughly rubbed at his cheek where James smooched him. “Disgusting.” He teased, his smile completely giving it away. “He’d punch you or whatever, so unless you want that, you keep your mouth shut about how we used to... dot dot dot.” It was hopeless. James had the biggest mouth regardless. “Better not let your dad hear you say that!”
thomas vanderbilt
“Their job OR their customers,” Tommy added before rolling his eyes at Zach. “Funny.” He was fairly happy with having few friends because it meant he didn’t have to exhaust himself by keeping up with all of them. Zach was an easy friend to handle. “Did you wonder why I was complaining to you and not an actual first year? You’ve already had three years here for me to put you off this place.”
“The customers aren’t so bad either, considering most of them are first years from Hogwarts in the summer. They’re cute!” Zach just loved kids. He honestly couldn’t wait to adopt one—whenever that would be. “Obviously. That and we’re frieeeends.” He sang the last words, mostly because he and Tommy used to despise each other. “A wild concept, us being friends. Can’t believe it’s real.”

Embry was rushing through the courtyard, ignoring everyone who waved her down to promote their society or whatever - she wasn’t paying much attention. She was too busy internally panicking over what she had just done, during Wizfest of all times, and couldn’t even focus on who was even around her. She was looking up at the sky, hoping maybe a strange shadow would cast and she could solve her own problem, when she accidentally bumped into someone. “Oh Merlin! I’m so sorry!” She started as she looked at the other. “Oh it’s you! Oh my gosh, I-I need help.” She leaned in and whispered. “Have you, erm, seen a dragon or something? One, um, kind of escaped on me when I was preparing for Wizfest. I’m usually so good about it okay this is the first time this has happened I’m freaking out I dunno what to do.” The words rushed out of her mouth.
Zach during Wizfest as a mess. He always went hard—mostly because he didn’t party this hard the rest of the year unless Slytherin won a game of Quidditch—so when a tiny, blonde Ravenclaw bumped into him, he smiled brightly, recognizing who it was. “EMBRY!” He shouted happily, only for his eyes to widen at her request for help. He listened closely and knit his eyebrows together in confusion. “Oh, come on! Easy! You’re so funny, Embry, come on, now.” He said, and took her hand. Zach dragged her outside to the grounds and stopped, pulling his wand out. “Right, okay. Put your hands out like you’re gonna hold something.”
lily potter
maybe lily shouldn’t have carried the tray of cupcakes from one corner to another because she was now full of them- out a classic lily move- she had frosting onto her clothes and tangled between her red locks ; a cupcake still standing flat onto her head. ‘ um- do i have frosting on my face?’ she asked the closest person. next year she’ll definitly not be assigned with moving anything for sure.
Zach was honestly tipsy. He was having fun at this party and was enjoying himself so casually. He turned around at the sound a question from a familiar someone. He turned around and his eyes brightened up at the sight of Lily, but he tilted his head as he looked her up and down. “Ooh... my god. You have it everywhere, darling. What happened?!” He laughed, hurrying closer to her and trying to smack away any frosting from her arms. “Only you would get into this mess.”
alice longbottom
a perfect angle will make a picture look ten times better, okay?” she adjusted her head so the angle became perfect. at the corner of her eyes, she felt zach making a face at her, sticking her tongue out at him in response. “up to you then!” she fished out her phone and tapped on the instagram icon the moment she unlocked it. “i know i’m not. who could resist me?” chuckling, she accepted his following request and requested to follow back. “they were fine, the usual.” they may not remembered her father but he still loved them.
“I suppose you’re right, yeah, yeah, I’m definitely not... someone who knows all too much about the perfect angle. You should teach me.” Zach chuckled and shrugged. Honestly, who could resist Alice? She was the embodiment of cute in his opinion. He just wanted to wrap her up in a blanket like a taco and hug her. “No one. Oh, okay. I mean, as long as they’re fine. That’s still so unfortunate.” He smiled sadly. “Enough sadness though. Are you excited for Wizfest? Which is obviously the only reason people come to this university to begin with, clearly.”
adam stewart
To say Adam was not excited for WizFest would be a vast understatement. He sighs and frowns as he spots someone nearby. He was going to have to say something, wasn’t he? Wouldn’t they have joined already if they’d wanted to, “Potions,” a great start, he’s sure, “It’s useful, and we can probably help you be less shit at it. Maybe. I don’t know. Some people are a bit hopeless, but perhaps you could get the hang of it.” It’s not a good sell, but he loathes just about everything about this.
Wizfest was always a good time for Zach. It was undoubtedly one of the best weeks at the university, with any quidditch week following right behind it. He walked along the courtyard to see the booths he’d seen for the past few years already. Zach was sure he was supposed to be a part of one of these booths but he honestly couldn’t be arsed. He stopped in front of the potions society booth, a small smirk on his lips. He raised his eyebrows at Ada and tilted his head to the side. “That’ll sell.” He joked, shaking his head. “Don’t get so excited over potions, damn. Overenthusiastic Adam Stewart. No wonder the booth has so many people flocking over here.” Even if there were none, but, that was his point. “Do you need some help or something?”
aoife finnigan
aoife knew the name would make him crack, and a smug grin spread across her face in response to his own, but it was quickly replaced with an insulted frown. “ alright evergreen, i can live with the whole JOHNNY V ELVIS palava, but i draw the line at dolly. NOBODY comes for the queen of country. “ she shook her head, exasperated, trying to suppress the smile that tugged at her lips. “ this is far from over, wandy, but just be glad that i’m far too exhausted to deal with you. and besides, we all know who the attractive one in this relationship is. “
Zach crossed his arms over his chest and raised his eyebrows at Aoife, shaking his head at her. He had half a mind to insult her further and claim Taylor Swift as queen of country, but Zach detested Taylor even more than Dolly! His smile widened when she ended their debacle—for now—and he rolled his eyes and laughed out loud. “It’s me, I know.” He said rather happily, although Aoife was lovely! He had eyes, he wasn’t dumb. “It’s just fact.”
zelda andrada
“My life is already all stress and work.” Zelda deadpans, she’s not letting a smile shine through. This, for her, is a moment to prove to Zach that parties aren’t any better than everyone thinks them to be. “Going to a party is stress and work too, if you think about it. You have to think about what you have to wear and if it’s appropriate. You have to talk to people and keep them entertained and make sure they’re having a good time.” Then he mentions the game again and Zelda scowls, shaking her head at him in disappointment. “I was NOT named after the game, you know that, right?” Probably not, but she’s eyeing the brownies again — she’s looking for a distraction, clearly. Her voice is a whisper as she attempts to explain, “I saw one of my brothers this morning at Diagon Alley. He was being a dick, as per usual. What else is new.”
“Then you just gotta chill.” Zach said, closing his eyes and smiling lazily. His eyes shot open and he frowned, thinking about the stress of parties. “Right, well, if you let it stress you out, it takes the fun out of everything. Plus, believe it or not, I have fashion sense so I can easily choose what I want to wear. No stress for me! Do I look stressed?” Zach asked, raising an eyebrow and resting his chin in his pal, elbow on the table. “I do this all the time, I know people will be entertained.” He laughed at what was probably the millionth time Zelda told him she wasn’t actually named after the video game. He totally knew it, but it was still hysterical to see her reaction whenever he made any type of comparison to her and the game. “It ruins the illusion shh.” Zach whispered, pressing his index finger to his lips. But he quickly frowned, growing serious. “What’d the prat do? Do I need to hex him? I will.”
