U ever just look at Zack and Ray and just 💙💙💙💙??

Yes! And what I truly love about Zack and Ray’s dynamics is how different it is from the usual, often times, annoying representations out there, where a boy and a girl are shoved into each other for no other reason than they are a boy and a girl. You know, forced chemistry because of this stupid need for heteronormative representation. But I felt none of that with these two. For one thing, their dymanics is not romantic in nature. They don’t look at each other like, oh she’s a girl. Oh he’s a boy. I like that. I wish most character interactions were like that. When you see them as a person, not a potential love interest simply because you are of opposite genders. Niether Zack nor Ray are defined by the restrictions of their genders. It doesn’t matter to the audience that Ray is a girl or Zack is a boy. It could be reveresed. They could be non-binary. They could be non-human. But the essence of their characters, that thing that makes them what they are and we love them for it, will remain the same.

You know I was browsing through tumblr today, and I saw this Beautiful page. You finally did my best boi justice (and fanned the flames of my obsession into oblivion) But, how did you get into Satsuriku no Tenshi in the first place? I'm just curious...

Well, tbh, I went about the whole thing backward. I first started watching the anime as soon as it was aired. Half way through it and realizing how amazing the anime and Zack in particular is, I decided to make this blog after seeing not enough content about it yet. My interactions with other fans gave me the incentive I so badly needed to read the manga and play the game. While I’m an avid gamer and truly enjoyed the game (highly recc’ed!) I don’t really have the eye and the focus for reading mangas but for this I made an exception!

Satsuten is unlike most anime out there, which come with a clearcut hero material protagonist that on the surface has all the positive qualities needed for a hero but deep down there are a lot of things wrong with them that many fans never really see.

Zack, on the other hand, is a serial killer, right on the opposite side of a hero, and he never tried to manipulate the viewers’ opinion into liking him because of his nonexistent virtues. BUT he does have one virtue that is truly there and which actually made me love this character so much. His honesty. That is, for me, what truly matters in any kind of character, be it a hero or a villain. I have never cared much for nice characters. Because let’s face it: being nice can be and most of the time is a way to manipulate people’s opinions of you. Characters who don’t bother trying to be nice are usually ones who care nothing for others’ opinions of them and as such are very honest in what they say, do and want. So yeah...that’s how I fell in love with Zack Foster.
