I realised I don't have a pinned introduction post since I only rejoined tumblr recently so here goes
My real world name is Kris, yes just like Joker Out's resident hater, even the spelling is the same, which is why I can't be a Kris girlie because it feels weird
I'm in my early 30s and grew up in Vancouver, Canada, but moved to Germany nearly 10 years ago
I used to have a Serious Job as an EU economic policy analyst but then suffered burnout and an actual mental breakdown so now I'm a lazy freelancer sleeping until noon
My current obsession is obviously Joker Out
Are you unsatisfied with this short introduction? You want the real TMI, my dirty laundry? Well then friend, read on under the cut 👇🏻
I joined Tumblr in 2011 for Sherlock as a depressed 20yo and now I'm back for Joker Out as a depressed 31yo. My life is full of cruel loops like that 👌🏻
I have an adorable 3yo husky mutt named Akai, I adopted him from a shelter in Slovakia and he is my floofy baby boy and I love him
I believe in being open about mental health struggles and treatment so here are some fun facts about me:
- I spent 2 months in a psychiatric clinic in Bavaria for depression during the covid lockdown, it was a weird time but I actually miss it a lot
- I spent 3 weeks in the detox ward of a Berlin hospital where the other patients were actually crazy and I carved a pretty soapstone wolf in art therapy (idk if it was a good idea to be giving us knives though tbh)
- I went to rehab and it sucked, but I do have to admit, the addicts had WAY crazier stories than the depression group from the Bavarian clinic
- After rehab I was unemployed for a while before deciding to build a new career as a freelance translator (German>English), English editor/proofreader and writer
Now that I've left my previous career in policy/politics I give zero shits about anyone knowing my history of mental health treatment so ask me whatever you want, I'm happy to talk about it
Uhhh what else? I'm bi but currently questioning my gender identity, love languages, history, literature... I speak English, German, and French, although my French is rusty, currently learning Polish and Czech (maybe Slovenian soon??), live alone except for my dog, have a tattoo of the European flag.
I love my home country of Canada very much, but that time of my life is over. I've only been back once in nearly 10 years and that was on a business trip. My life is in Germany/Europe now and I identify more strongly with Europe than with Canada; after all, I've spent most of my adult life here.
Blog name: from my favourite novella by Voltaire because I'm a tool and was living in France back in 2011 when I started it
Icon: Haruhi from the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya which was THE cult anime hit when I was in high school and I always identified with her character
I should have been drawing the last 1993 contestant today, but instead I decided to sketch some of this year's artists.
It pains me that this Eurovision will forever be remembered in a negative light. Despite all of the talented artists this year, the wonderful hosts and production, it is indeed very hard to stay positive. I wished that the contest would live up to its 'United by music' slogan. Without exaggeration, Eurovision has always been my favorite time of the year... But not this year.
I am Dutch, so I guess I will not be able to vote tonight. Regardless I hope we can show support for the artists tonight.
Because it has always been the artists that have made Eurovision into the wonderful show that it is. Not the EBU.
My only post-ESC post will be this. Bambie speaking for all of us when they said fuck the EBU. A massive reform is due for ESC, and it starts by kicking out isa hell. Until then, keep boycotting the following years.
In a surprising twist for fans of the Slovenian Shagadelic rock and roll band Joker Out, frontman Bojan Cvjetićanin has recently confirmed his decision to relocate to Finland, followed quickly by the announcement that guitarist Kris Guštin will be leaving the band to join Dutch girl group K3. Along with the recent news of drummer Jure Maček’s critical drumstick shortage, fans of Joker Out appear to be facing a crisis that not even ‘Sama’ released on Spotify could solve.
Amidst the whirlwind of changes, two steadfast members, Jan Peteh and Nace Jordan, were spotted returning from their recent European tour to their rehearsal space. However, fans quickly noticed the absence of their bandmates, prompting speculation about the band's future.
But now, in an exclusive revelation, we can unveil the heartwarming reason behind Jan and Nace's solo return: they adopted a kitten together, and took some much needed alone time to settle in their new addition. After the emotional rollercoaster of bidding farewell to their departing bandmates, Jan and Nace found solace in the company of their newfound furry companion.
Sources close to the band suggest that the kitten has been named ‘Jos’. While some speculate that this is an ode to Dutch member, Kris Guštin, it is far more likely that this decision was made to honour fan group, JokerOutSubs, and thank them for their tireless work in translating Joker Out content. Nace, the only member of Joker Out to follow JokerOutSubs on Instagram, is known to be an huge fan.
The rockstars now face the onerous task of introducing Jos to their existing menagerie. Jan’s cat Igor, known for his sassy demeanour and rockstar attitude, is said to be unsure about the new addition. When confronted about his new sibling, Igor remained tight lipped and mysterious, much like his father, Jan. On the other hand, Nace’s dog, Ollie, has been wildly enthusiastic, and provided a comment to our reporters: ‘woof woof, bark bark!’*
While the band undergoes a period of transition, fans can take comfort in the knowledge that the bond between Jan, Nace, Igor, Ollie, and their newest band member will only continue to grow stronger. In the ever-changing landscape of rock and roll, Joker Out proves that amidst departures and new beginnings, the power of music and friendship endures.
