I had made an initial messy sketch of this in my sketchbook for a Mermay piece. Didn't get around to it until the last day of May, but didn't have the energy for anything other than quick digital doodle.
Back in December I was struggling with a commission. An image came to mind and I thought, "Maybe I, someone who doesn't paint and is slow as molasses, can do a quick speed paint of it as a break! What's the most it can take, Michael? Ten minutes?"
Weeks later I was still chipping away at it and eventually forgot about it. Reopened it this week and realized I have no idea what I'm doing or how to make it "finished" so may as well just post it.
I got a comment that I draw Malroth like an evil manly vampire. After reading that, I couldn't get this out of my head so I doodled it. Then I started hatching the cape in the first page and got carried away. Oops.
Been noticing that I have developed this impulse to communicate as "shorthand" as possible. Take up as little space as I can and get the idea out without explaining more than I (think) I have to which leads to very short and dry bits of talking. I've noticed it lately when I draw in panels too. Don't want to draw or write more because must use as little as possible even if awkward and not comfortable. ← Case in point. Anywho, Serge talking and the flow of the first page feels off.
Also, Drackson! Because I like the idea of Drackson joining the rest of the monster squad post game. And I needed a campy/batty creature.
I know I interpret and draw the characters very differently from the original style, and it may not be other's cup of tea. Totally cool! And I must emphasize that this is just a silly thing that came into mind after reading that initial comment and not meant as a call out or anything. I agree, I do draw him like an evil manly vampire XD
Was working on a WIP and decided to start a new one instead. Have had the idea about Muppet Builders for a bit and went for it last night. I know the colors choices were a, um, choice, but I really love the fantasy colored humans from older vintage Sesame Street/ Muppets.
