If you're new to Tumblr, just know that this app is mainly controlled by a council of mischievous wizards.
to those that sent me ask, so sorry it took so long to answer, i’m not on this platform as much anymore but i’m hoping to change that very soon. xoxo - zana
hey! i’m a baby witch and i was wondering if the spell for protection of family/ loved ones could go wrong in any way? like is it completely safe to do? thank you so much!!
the worse that can happen is that the spell does not succeed. nothing to worry about, sometimes a failed spell simply means it’s not currently necessary or you should approach the concern with another spell.
Does this spell work for friends also? Im referring to the family/ loved ones protection spell
yes, i’ve used it on pets and close friends
Hey can I use fresh ginger for the protection jar?
yes you can
Hey.
Can the Family/Loved One(s) Protection Jar be put on a necklace?
yes!
Hello there, what if you dont have the ingredients?? I dlnt live in the US nomore. I live in México? Lets say not in the city but wheres mountains nd free land??
sometimes ethnobotanical books can be found for your local region that may help you find local herbs with similar correspondences as the ones mentioned in the spell. also, from a botany perspective, and seed capsules or things that protect seeds are often associated with protection, same thing with tree bark and thorns.
Do you have any tips for cleansing a new space when you get an apartment or home? And how to make it feel more homey and comfy?
my best suggestion cleansing the space with incense or a simmer pot with herbs that usually correspond with cleansing. this can include rosemary, eucalyptus, peppermint, pine, etc. then i would try connecting with the house/space with the intention of building a relationship with your new home. this can be through meditation or directly speaking to the space. divination like tarot or pendulum could also work. also decorating your space already sets up the intention of comfort and joy because you are adding items that bring you happiness and comfort.

Hey there! I wanted to share a friendly breakdown of Imbolc and how to celebrate as it’s coming up soon! I would like to say that this is simply ONE of many holidays celebrated by witches around this time of year, many will be celebrating under different names or associated festivals!

WHEN IS IT?
is typically held on February 1st through until sundown of February 2nd
WHAT DOES IT
SYMBOLIZE?
symbolizes the half way point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox
WHAT IS IT?
is a Celtic/Gaelic holiday
is another Celtic fire festival
hearth fires are often re-lit, especially using the Yule greenery, as keeping this too long invites the fae folk to stay in the house beyond their welcome.
WHO TO HONOUR
Imbolc celebrations took place in honour of the goddess Brigid! This goddess was considered one of the most powerful Celtic gods.
ABOUT BRIGID
REPRESENTS:
spring
fertility
fire
creativity
poetry
healing
crafting
and so much more!
She is the daughter of Dagda, one of the oldest Celtic gods In some representations.
Brigid in some stories has two sisters both also named Brigid, it’s thought among many that this is meant to represent the goddess in different forms or points in life (personally I love this aspect of them because not many gods actually do age thought the stories and legends. They’re are a few others but I just think it’s cool little thing to note)
it was often found that Brigid’s crosses were made from wheat stalks at this time of year and exchanged and hung in the home to protect from fire damage.
While many people still honour Brigid today, if working with dietys isn’t your thing, many more modern celebrations can include the following:

SOME FUN WAYS
TO CELEBRATE
🌸⭐️🌸⭐️🌸⭐️🌸⭐️🌸⭐️🌸⭐️
having a fire this could be as nice as having a bonfire or as simple as leaving a tea light in a bowl outside for them!
for Brigid, you could write intentions on paper and throw them into the fire,
a simple meditation with a candle would be amazing for this day!
You could even make making Brigid a crosses out of pipe cleaners or paper if you have little ones you want to include in the festivities.
Maybe burn some candles in the imbolc colours which are white, pink, red, yellow, green, brown.
if you wanted to indulge in some classic imbolc type food typically it would be dairy products, spicy food or lamb! And Something that would’ve been stored over the winter, smoked meats, dried fruit and nuts!
Often times Candles are placed in windows to welcome the spring and spring cleaning and household purification rituals are common.
this is really just a quick breakdown of this witchy holiday and a few suggestions! Your celebration doesn’t have to be grand or spectacular either I’ve had imbolc where all I’ve done was change the altar cloth to a flowered one! I’ve also had imbolc a filled with ritual and magic! It’s all up to you how to celebrate the day, it’s about welcoming in the spring energy! Releasing that which serves you no more! Even spring cleaning can be associated with imbolc!

Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns! Merry meet - B

Tools that I Think are Criminally Overrated and Underrated
Part one: Overrated.
Okay, okay, I get it, we aaaaaall have different ways of practicing witchcraft but we all have to admit there are tools that aren't really necessary. In the age of TikTok trends and instant gratification, it's easier and easier to fall into the mindset that some things are universally necessary when in reality you can function just fine without them.
Please note that this is not a list saying these things aren't useful, helpful, or otherwise handy to have. This is just a list of things that I've seen multiple people claim you MUST HAVE in order to be a 'real witch'.
Full Altars. Are they nice to have? Yes. Are they incredibly helpful? Yes. Is it fun to arrange shiny things? Also yes. But full altars are not a requirement for steadfast practice - especially in you're in the broom closet. Really, all you need are a few most valued tools, and you're set.
Tarot Cards. Again, super helpful and great, but they only mirror your own intuition and energies. They really are great for reflection and questioning, but if you don't have a deck, that's okay. If you're in the broom closet, you can always try cartomancy - which is like reading playing cards like tarot.
Pendulums. Same exact thing as Tarot cards. Super helpful, easy to use - but also easily influenced. If you have your window open for a breeze or your downstairs neighbor has a Bass Boster 5000 that shakes your floors, the swaying of the weight can throw off answers.
Crystals. Yeah, I said it! Crystals! Helpful, useful, and not to mention shiny - but your practice doesn't have to have those stones in order to be real. Sometimes we can't afford them, sometimes we just don't personally see the use. For me, I tend to only have a few at a time, usually quartz, because a lot of my practice is centered around herbs and oils.
"Shifting". Okay, I thought this one was obvious, but I just saw a few tiktoks (and by a few, I mean well over a few dozen) claiming that if you're a 'real witch', you can 'shift realities'. Like full on, actually be with Draco at Hogwarts. What the heck y'all.
Physical Grimoire. Although this is probably my favorite tool to have, you don't need a physical book with all your information - especially if you're in the broom closet. Notes on your phone, jotted down into random pages in random notebooks, or just memorizing things is the same exact thing as a Book of Shadows or Grimoire. It's just a way to keep your information.
Garden. And once again, I have to result to listing the obvious. Y'all... some people can't have plants. They just can't. It's seriously giving off very classist and ableist vibes saying you can't be a 'real witch' without growing your own herbs.
There are lots of other things I could list, but I'll leave it at that. As always, always practice in a cleansed space and do your research!
Blessed Be everyone

Grimoires, spell books, and tomes.
The differences between grimoires, spell books, and witchcraft tomes are not strict and there are many points of overlap. Grimoire comes from French and means ‘book of magic’ but it derives from the word ‘grammar’ so it refers to a grammar of magic.
Typically, grimoires are often manual of practice that give recipes, operations, rituals and perhaps even spells.
Spellbooks, are more associated with folk magic and practice while witchcraft tomes are more like a belief system or “what it means to be a witch.”
