MY FIRST SURFING EXPERIENCE

I never thought surfing was fun but after watching Siargao by Jericho Rosales, I always wanted to try it but I’m scared that I might drown cause I can’t swim but my cousin wanted to go surfing and no one wants to go with him because we all can’t swim so I pretended that I can swim plus I kinda wanna try it cause you only live once might as well try everything you can while you still can, so we book a surfing lesson first thing in the morning cause when we got to La Union it was around 3PM and the waves are really high not good for beginners like us they say and we can’t find a board to rent all of them are in the water so we just book it for tomorrow morning.

I also recommend hangout at Flotsam & Jetsam most of the tourist go there to drink and party, they say that saturday night is the best day to come and good thing we went there on a saturday night and they were right it was fun people are friendly and I like the vibe but I guess its not for people who don’t like loud and crowded places by the way the DJ starts at 10PM and they do raves.

Me and my cousin learned a lot from one of Elyu Classic coaches who teach us how to surf, by the way his name is Francis his a really good guy.

I wated to explain how we learned it from Francis however I might just mess it up, so I just look for tips online how to do it its really similiar to how Francis thought us about surfing, so here are some tips I found on YouTube for surfing this might help people who wanted learn surfing:

I was really scared at first cause we’re going too far from the shore I feel like were in the middle on the ocean like seriously Francis keep pushing us far away from the shore I can’t blame him cause he doesn’t know I can’t swim (that’s why never lie to your coaches haha) and in my head I’m like stop pushing me I can’t even swim I might die if I fell of this board haha and I also keep telling myself why am I even here in the first place but I just focus on what I learn from Francis I keep things balance so I wouldn’t fall off the board maybe thats what motivate me to balance is death himself cause if I won’t keep my balance I would die haha good thing I fall off near the shore (beginners luck) and after the first attempt I acted like I’m tired so Francis won’t ask me to surf again then Johnny came my cousin saying “lets go back” and I’m like “sure lets go” but deep inside I’m like when will this stop, I’m literally crying while paddling far from the shore again I’m scared that I won’t get lucky to get near the shore like my first attempt good thing that the waves calm down and were like at the middle of ocean waiting for the waves it actually kinda feels nice out there its very relaxing, good thing everything went well I didn’t die or something but my cousin Johnny acidentally hurt his ankle he was saying he got hit by a rock but nothing serious, I might really do it again but I need to learn how to swim first.

P400 per head for 1 hour surf lesson (recommended for beginners)

P200 per board for 1 hour but if you break it P1,500 or more depends on the damage

The beach closes at 6PM and opens at 6AM

A START OF SOMETHING NEW

A lot of things happen in 2018 looking back at it makes me feel sad and happy at the same time that year was the first time I went hiking I also met a lot of new awesome people and lost some of them, well 2019 is a good start to do something new.

I’m not really into writing things about myself cause I like being mysterious haha! I know its lame but after reading David Guison’s blog I was inspired to get out of my comfort zone its not like everybody read this I might be the only one reading it and it doesn’t really matter anymore there is no harm in writing down how you feel and blogging is way more easier than vlogging if you know what I mean (I’m camera shy).

It’s not like I’m waiting for this year to do this it just took me a while to realize what I really wanna do in life, I wanna write down every moment in my life that matters and take more pictures and videos for me to look back on something that I may achieve and not achieve in the future and maybe inspire some people.

This is the first time I’ll be doing a new years resolution that I will definitely exert effort, so here are the list of them:

1. Self love - GYM! Of course workout is definition of self love for me, I started working out since 2017 I was really thin back then I was like 50kg and I’m also really shy to go to the gym on my own not because of my body but because I don’t really know what I’m doing then I started watching YouTube workout routines, proper posture, diet plan, food supplements and all that. There will always be failure but don’t let that stop you learn from that mistake and do better the next time also there are times that I get lazy and didn’t workout for a month I have no motivation whatsoever sometimes you just need to hit the gym.

2. Invest in a good laptop and camera - Well you already know why but incase you don’t know, so I can shoot a lot more.

3. Travel alone - Traveling with friends and family is fun but I also wanna try something new (malay natin don ko na makilala forever ko haha!).

4. Cutting off negative people - I already cut some of them, well actually most of them even the ones I shouldin’t have but just because of a single person that has a lot of impact on those people I just decided to cut everyone related to that person its easier that way.

5. Talk less listen more - I always regret talking too much because I tend to say a lot of swearing words and stupid things that sometimes can hurt someones feelings even though I didn’t mean it. I wanna change that I wanna be more of a guy that listen rather than talking non sense stuff, so instead of talking too much maybe I’ll focus more on writing in that way I can’t hurt anyones feelings.

6. Healthy skin - You heard it right, not only girls cares about their skin, so are men we should take care of our skin more than girls do cause we can’t wear make up lol! It’s hard to have ugly skin and you can’t cover it especially if the problem is your face some guys struggle with that so am I, so from now on I’ll treat them better.

7. Editing - I love editing photo/video I can spend the whole day editing just to make everything look good but I still have a lot to learn that’s what I’m going to do this year it’s all about learning.

8. Spending time with the right people - Yes, my family I wanna spend more time with them I believe that I spend most of my time last year with friends it was fun till everything got messed up a lot of things happen and I believe that everything happens for a reason, I just wanna make this year right for me.

9. Be positive - By starting to be grateful of what you have thinking that way can lessen the worries the more you force yourself to have something the more your gonna be miserable accept that fact that maybe its for the best and everything will fall into places in God’s perfect time.

So there you go, that’s pretty much it I don’t wanna add some more (baka diko na magawa haha!), anyway it’s nice to write down things you wanna do throughout the year makes you really wanna do it and every time you messed up you can just go back to this post and read it so you won’t lose the track of your new year’s resolution, it’s like a simple reminder to keep your head in the game.

I don’t usually read/write blogs but there is something about it that I like which is the classic way of doing it (it’s very 90’s) millennials nowadays they want it the easier way, well I can’t blame them me myself I sometimes rather do shortcuts but people need to realize that when you exerted time and effort to something it feel so much better.

I also think that blogging is dead a lot of people don’t read/write blogs anymore back in the days I always see long post in Tumblr I totally ignore them unless I like the person who post it haha! I hate reading long messages it bores me but when you get to a age where you lost meaning in life you just wanna be inspired by someone to do better things, to have purpose in life. Well guess what you can simply start by reading blogs from inspirational people like David Guison you can read his blog HERE or write down the things that you wanna achieve and start your own blog. Just do it! Let’s bring back classic blogging! Zai Jian!
