De Amsterdamse start-up ZEEF heeft 1,2 miljoen euro opgehaald in een financieringsronde. Wij spreken Klaas Joosten, oprichter en CEO van ZEEF.

Dag Klaas, hoe is het met jou? 1,2 miljoen euro; champagne neem ik aan?

De champagne was al snel op, we zijn gelijk weer doorgegaan met het doorvoeren van verbeteringen. Het heeft veel voorbereiding gekost en als het er eenmaal is dan ben je al weer met de toekomst bezig. De investering heeft ZEEF weer wat meer runway gegeven. We hebben toch meer tijd nodig om mensen uit te leggen dat Google wordt gedomineerd door partijen die het spel van SEO goed kennen en veel budget hebben om het spel te spelen.

We willen laten zien dat je op een andere manier naar search kunt kijken. Het zoeken via mensen die ergens verstand van hebben, is mooi uit te voeren in een directory model. Een directory gemaakt en beheerd door echte mensen.

Wij gaan hulp bieden bij het vormen van een besluit op basis van de kennis van andere mensen. Kijk naar het antwoord van Google op de zoekterm Online bookstores. Hier komt niet het lijstje uit wat je zou verwachten. Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, Powell’s, Bol.com voor Nederlandse mensen? Yahoo heeft wel een redelijk goede lijst.

We zullen nog lange tijd bezig zijn met testen en feedback verzamelen in de zoektocht naar welke boodschap en welke interface het best werken. Je wilt iedereen tevreden stellen maar soms hoeft het niet mooi te zijn om effectief te zijn, zoalsCraigslist.com het ook al langer uithoudt dan je zou verwachten op basis van de vormgeving van deze website.
