secret of the scarlet hand is sooooooooooo well written. the characters all feel like real people and the whole world of the game seems so vast and yet we only get to see the slices of that world that pertain to the case. a lot of backstory is only hinted at and discovered if you pay really close attention and all the things that are now nancy drew game tropes are just inserted so effortlessly and beautifully into the game’s structure. and the research that must’ve been done for this game is astounding. and the whole premise is so clever and smart and it has such a specific atmosphere that i don’t think any other nancy drew comes close to hitting and i love it, it’s truly one of my absolute favourite games
