It's so sad how, in every single scenario in which Olruggio isn't with Qifrey, Qifrey dies.

As a kid, Qifrey would've killed himself if Olruggio hadn't saved him. And if Olruggio did give up on him after a while despite saving him, Qifrey would've likely died while trying to get to the Tower of Tomes because of how dangerous it is.

The tree would've killed him if Olruggio hadn't gone to the Tower of Tomes.

And even years later, Qifrey can't leave Olruggio because the relief of not being a burden anymore is enough for the tree to take over.

However, even though Qifrey relies so much on Olruggio, I don't doubt that Olruggio relies just as much on Qifrey. Who would Olruggio be without Qifrey? Qifrey is his confirmation that he's still capable of saving people despite failing once. If he can't save Qifrey, then what does that mean for him?

They have to be together, or else they are both doomed.
