The wyllstarion ship has some of the most toxic shippers in the fandom, especially on twitter, and they constantly degrade other popular ships to lift their own up. I’m starting to physically recoil and inwardly cringe whenever I see any media regarding that ship, but it seems I can’t avoid it because they always rear their ugly head into the ship tags that I do like. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve went into the tags expecting to find things about my fav ship, only to find them spitting their hot garbage takes about how wyllstarion is the most healthy ship, the one that makes most sense, the one most likely to be canon and that all other ships are toxic. It’s becoming a daily occurrence. Literally just came across one this morning while browsing the tags.

The media literacy in this fandom is truly upsetting, but I guess it makes sense considering the majority of the demographic are players under 20. I’m convinced people only like Wyll in the context of that ship, otherwise they wouldn’t even give him a second thought. I saw a tweet from a black Wyll fan saying how much they hate that people are genuinely shipping him with Astarion because he’s only relevant when it comes to everyone’s fav vamp. Wyll is not Astarion’s babysitter and I really wish they would separate those 2 (who literally have no business with each other) when they have discussions around Wyll’s character and writing. He doesn’t exist solely for Astarion.

Besides, other than them calling each other attractive, they have no chemistry and it seems like they’re just reluctant allies. And no, Wyll is not Astarion’s type and vice versa. That prince line was a scathing remark towards the mc choosing Wyll that was taken waaayyyyy out of context, y’all are reaching. If y’all actually believe he was being genuine (Astarion, genuine? lol), that is a self own. If we’re talking about “toxic”, Wyll says some of the most out of pocket things to Astarion (which, good for him honestly) but most people take that as flirting for some reason when those are legit insults. And yet they claim that Astarion and Gale hate each other when they never said anything even remotely close to the banter you get between Wyll and Astarion.

These shippers don’t even have the courtesy to censor their hate posts, so I’m forced to go through them when I’m going through my fav ship tag. Unfortunately, these tweets/posts are being made by popular bg3 accounts that are generally liked in the fandom and so many people agree with them that arguing is pointless. The misinformation that they spew is why I believe everyone needs to take a class on analyzing media before they consume it. These people wanna be different so bad it makes them look stupid. They’re just all taking turns sharing the same brain cell because it’s the same rhetoric everyday. I legit hate the ship because of the type of people that ship it, and they’re actively condoning this type of behavior, which is honestly beginning to look like a cult. It’s one of the reasons why I just don’t interact with the fandom at all.

Anyways if there are no wyllstarion and bg3 fandom haters, I’m dead
