Hi, Thank you so so much for re-posting the first chapter of Stay Alive. I just got through re-reading all 4 parts and was reminded of how much I enjoy this story. I did check AO3 & Fanfiction before I sent the previous ask (I didn't want to be a bother if I could find it elsewhere) but wasn't able to find it on either site. Thanks so much again :) :) :)

  Chapter 1

"If she tries to shoot me I'm charging you twice...no...three times my going rate," shouted Bum as he climbed into the front seat of the truck, driving away.

J.R. grinned, raising his hand in acknowledgment at Bum before turning back to watch the movers move everything into the new Southfork. The house, outbuildings and land looked like the original but that is where the similarity ended.  The inside was being decorated in a manner befitting a Texas billionaire, which he still was, not like an advertisement for IKEA and Rooms to Go. The money he lost over the years had been his public fortune. His personal fortune was still intact, something that wouldn’t surprise those that knew him really well. His various investments in little known companies such as Microsoft, Apple and Virgin among others in the mid 80’s and early 90’s insured he would never be broke.  J.R. shuddered at the memory of how tacky Southfork was decorated. His mama was probably rolling over in her grave right now!

All those thinking J.R. Ewing broke; dead and gone would work to his advantage when the time came for revenge; and revenge he would have but that could and would wait for a bit. First he needed his Sue Ellen, and bourbon. The bourbon was for courage because he knew Sue Ellen was going to be oh so pissed when she found out he was still alive! She might even try to shoot him again. He would have to make sure the gun cabinet in the den was locked up tight for a few days. Better make that a few weeks, he amended.  

 He poured himself a bourbon and branch, grinning at the thought of how fired up his lady was gonna be when she discovered he was alive. “She always was extra sexy when she was mad,” J.R. chuckled.

South Carolina Hurricane Update:

We are ready. Food, water, propane, generator and chain saws, check! The bathtub will be filled this afternoon in case we lose power, so we can flush the toilets. We have a well pump, no power no pump. Now we just have to wait for Dorian to grace us with her presence and hope she doesn't sit off the coast for a time.

  I’ve said this before and I’ll point it out again - 

Menstruation is caused by change in hormonal levels to stop the creation of a uterine lining and encourage the body to flush the lining out. The body does this by lowering estrogen levels and raising testosterone. 

Or, to put it more plainly “That time of the month” is when female hormones most closely resemble male hormones. So if (cis) women aren’t suited to office at “That time of the month” then (cis) men are NEVER suited to office.

If you are a dude and don’t dig the ladies around you at their time of the month, just think! That is you all of the time. 

And, on a final note, post-menopausal (cis) women are the most hormonally stable of all human demographics. They have fewer hormonal fluctuations of anyone, meaning older women like Hilary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren would theoretically be among the least likely candidates to make an irrational decision due to hormonal fluctuations, and if we were basing our leadership decisions on hormone levels, then only women over fifty should ever be allowed to hold office.
