iOS7- Tricks or treats?

iOS7 is now a week old, so we can talk about the most anticipated operating system of the year and discover all the little details that are running all over the web.

Here a list of the most important almost hidden features:

1- Apps Updating  With the new iOS7 you don't have to download manually and everytime all the updates, they go on the background. That's a very useful feature but it's a really battery consuming one. But you can change the setting of the preferred apps to update.

2- Bigger fonts You can now change the size of the fonts, in fact it's possible to make it bigger and bold, if you want.

3- More space in your folder Remember that in each folder you couldn't put more than 12 apps? Now the space is unlimited, that's a cool way for the space saving!

4- Siri is now even smarter! Say eco friendly, say high design

Living in an eco friendly way is not always easy stuff to conquer, but Stephen Nickel made it! He builds innovative, energy-saving and aesthetically pleasing low-energy and passive houses. This luxury retreat in Mallorca is the first of his projects to showcase their capabilities. The home was prefabricated in Germany to ensure a high degree of weatherproofing and accuracy before being shipped to Mallorca and installed. While it certainly took energy to ship it all the way from Germany, hopefully the energy savings and the high standards of construction will overcome the transportation footprint.

Located on a 17,000 sq m, the home is surrounded by beautiful fields and trees. The home is an H-shape with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with multiple outdoor living spaces. The entrance courtyard sits atop the H, and the other open space is reserved for a pool and covered seating area. Double glazed windows and doors open up to extend living spaces and facilitate natural ventilation. The home also provides for a spa with sauna, a shower and jacuzzi, an office room, a guest bathroom and a utility room. Mechanical ventilation makes the space suitable for allergy sufferers, and a heat pump and radiant floors provide energy efficient heating and cooling. Water is sourced from a private well on the property. A good solution for who cares about the environment!

Vivere in un maniera eco friendly non è sempre facile, sopratutto se si parla di un'ecologia da abitare. Ma Stephen Nickel ce l'ha fatta! Stephen costruisce case innovative a risparmio energetico, passive e anche belle da vedere! Questo rifugio di lusso a Maiorca è il primo dei suoi progetti ad essere stato realizzato.  La casa è stato prefabbricata in Germania per garantire un alto grado di impermeabilità e di precisione prima di essere spedita a Maiorca ed essere installata. Anche se certamente ci saranno volute molte energie per spedire tutto dalla Germania, speriamo che il risparmio di energia e gli elevati standard di costruzione supereranno faranno dimenticare gli sforzi del trasporto.

Situato su un terreno di 17.000 mq, la casa è circondata da bellissimi campi e alberi. La costruzione ha una forma ad H con 4 camere da letto e 3 bagni con molteplici spazi all'aperto. Il cortile d'ingresso si trova in cima alla H, e l'altro spazio aperto è riservato ad una piscina e una zona lounge al coperto. 

Finestre con doppi vetri e porte si aprono per estendere spazi di vita e facilitare la ventilazione naturale. La casa dispone inoltre di un centro benessere con sauna, una doccia e una vasca idromassaggio, uno studio, un bagno per gli ospiti e un ripostiglio. Ma cosa rende eco friendly questa casa? Presto detto: ventilazione meccanica, una pompa di calore, pavimenti radianti che forniscono riscaldamento ad alta efficienza energetica e di raffreddamento e l'acqua proviene da un pozzo privato all'interno della proprietà.

  Una buona soluzione per chi si preoccupa per l'ambiente!

Green Design e DIY

Il green design è un argomento che ci interessa molto. Molti brand stanno creando intere collezioni riutilizzando materiali di scarto facendo nascere complementi d'arredo di altissimo Design. Possiamo citare il brand Case 38 che ha creato una collezione di sedie raw, particolarmente indicate per la zona cucina ma che starebbero bene anche in uno spazio lavoro di stile shabby chic. Inoltre, se siete dei provetti bricoleur, potete sempre mettervi a lavoro creando quelli che vengono chiamati DIY (Do It Yourself). How's the production of a Zephirus?

The production process of Zephirus is an incredible journey through technology, emotion and love for the details. Each Zephirus is produced by putting on and on again thousands of layers by a laser, the product will appear at the end of the process inside of a cake of fine dust. Then there's the handmade work, the most important, where the product is cleaned and painted. Creating unique piecies.

Love me or leave me, the new iOS7

Few days have passed from the presentation of the new iOS7, so the time is right to do the counts and talk about the most hated thing about it: the icons!

Apple is hoping that it'll mark the start of a sustainable alternative to skeumorphism that isn't constrained by flat design.   The most successful icon may be the Passbook one, now it blends more easily with the rest of the icons than the previous version. The Mail icon could be considered also a success, the icon is clean and easy to read. Another success is the Music Player icon, its color differentiating it from the rest of the set, although the brakets joining the dots to the main stems on the musical note look a little clumsy.  The biggest flop is the re-design of the Newsstand icon. With the words "News", "Art", "Travel" and "Sport" standing there to represent the variety of magazines. As I read in an article long time ago "if you have to add text to explain your drawing, you didn't draw it well enough".
