I'm preparing a little comic for you, which I've planned enough.
This will be according to my au, where the events of the solar opposites have been postponed for several years.
Yumulack travels through space in search of adventures, but one day decides to visit his potential father – Korvo.
I just hope it turns out at least well <:3

why does mac get to "win" without complaint in mac finds his pride and charlie get to "win" in the gang carries a corpse up a mountain but dennis isn't allowed to display a positive change in himself after struggling for seasons and finally figuring out a way to cope with his emotional dysregulation? without everyone acting like this means the entire episode was Wrong or Bad or goes against the spirit of the show? dennis' power is limited to his own delusions (which even then, he doesn't have much of). it just so happens that in this case, the technique he's developed also helps him calm himself down, as he had been practicing throughout the entire episode each time his watch began beeping, and as we have been seeing throughout the entire season.
just realized there's probably a lot of new people in sunnyblr so im gonna shill again the sunny spec script I wrote in 2020 in 2 days
it’s always sunny in bikini bottom
part 2 babyyyy
it drives me insane when people act like dennis doesn't frequently and explicitly tell mac EXACTLY what he has a problem with because i can think of several lines from the big macdennis episodes that do just that. like just off the top of my head.
if that had been me choking tonight, no one wouldve saved me. why is it up to me to decide if you should save a man's life. i can't depend on you. i can't depend on anyone. stop trying to prove yourself to me in all the wrong ways.
its not about control (for once), it's about trust. and reliability. dennis doesn't want to control or be controlled here, he wants mac to be his own person and make decisions for himself. because if he can do that, then dennis can depend on him.
and in times up he tells mac that he has a problem with being objectified by him and to stop touching him without his consent. he says, "it's never gonna happen, not willingly".
like. i understand looking for subtext and trying to fit things into your ship narrative but he is. quite clear.
and i think. sometimes. we should take dennis' words at face value. this is whats bothering him. he's pretty clear that this is what's bothering him. and i don't think it means he secretly wants mac to take charge and fuck him silly, or that he's yearning, or struggling with internalized homophobia, or he's trying to regain control of mac because he's jealous or mad about mac drifting away. i think he really did create johnny to keep mac away from him. to have a boyfriend (without it being a foreign factor that dennis needs to work around) for mac to direct his advances toward and thus keep himself safe from the literal SA of seasons past, as well as giving dennis a break when he is clearly very visibly stressed out and tired of the gang relying on him.
den most definitely ended up getting off on this arrangement, but i don't think that was his intention at first. it is interesting that dennis chose to have remote sex with mac. very interesting. almost like he doesn't want mac touching him. or flat out ignoring his attempts to establish and maintain boundaries as he's done for years. even after dennis held a SA seminar and told him all of this to his face.
Sorry if this sounds like I’m asking for you to justify your opinions, I’m not I’m just genuinely curious on you analysis cause it’s always so good, but I was reading your tags on nailgunstigmatas post about macden, and I was wondering what you think dennis is doing with the “implications” things if not trying to be a rapist? I always thought he was self aware at what he’s doing, and just does it anyways. Do you think he actually thinks the implications give him consent, or something else?
I think if dennis was given a verbal "no", he would back off. he's counting on them not saying no. glenn actually speaks on it here (timestamped @ 1:52).
there is a very, very specific line that dennis toes that relies on it being dubious consent. but there are several moments on screen where we can SEE that dennis will take no for an answer, and the only times this is challenged is in something like fatty magoo vs the aluminum monster where it's not explicitly sexual in context ("i'm a winner, and winners, we don't listen to words like "no", or "don't" and "stop", those words are just not in our vocabulary"). dennis denies being a rapist every single time someone accuses him of being one. whether he actually qualifies as one or not (because coercion is obviously being used), dennis does not WANT to be a rapist by his own definition of the term. he very, very explicitly says this when discussing the implication.
just as he
clearly backed off and moved on from his mile high club target when she rejected him.
it's a very thin line, but the line is still there. he obviously has a very fucked up view of what does actually qualify as rape, but i believe if someone outright told him no, he wouldn't pursue it further.
and like. dennis is absolutely NOT self aware. at all. he is trying extremely hard to get mac to understand him here and is frustrated that it's coming off in a way he didn't intend it to. he does not want to be seen as a "monster" or a rapist. he is still counting on his conquest saying YES to him. because even if he is pushing her into saying yes, he makes it clear that it's still ultimately her decision.
i think that dennis believed he found a loophole and now he's questioning it because mac pointed out its flaws. and the whole point of the episode is to deconstruct this and to put dennis through what he was proposing.
dennis does not want to hurt these women, but he wants to utilize their fear to coerce them into saying yes, because they don't know what dennis is potentially capable of. and he's defensive over the fact that mac can't see that his intentions are not to force them into having sex with him if they don't want to, even if that is ultimately what he's proposing.
OH, I've got a s13 hot take apparently (I didn't know this was even a issue for people lol). Dennis's bizzare bedroom escape room stuff in The Gang Escapes isn't him being a predator, it's just a (clearly previously negotiated) very overwritten kink scene that he likes to do with people who are also into it that he meets online. And the recording of him saying all the creepy stuff is him performing his role in the scene. The only reason Dee couldn't get out was because she didn't know the safeword, given that she wasn't there for that. And him at the end of the ep being like "you're the only one who found a way out" or whatever is just him being a fucking dork because he was remembering a kink scenario he'd clearly done multiple times and enjoyed.
I just hate it because Dennis paying for sex with someone off Craigslist is absolute bullshit <3 His end goal is never the sex itself, it's the game that comes before and after it. I don't doubt he'd pull this shit, but I think it's a mischaracterization for different reasons. It's something I believe is an oddly fundamental misunderstanding of Dennis' character in almost all of Meg's episodes (made even more bizarre after she herself mentioned in this week's podcast ep that Dennis doesn't care about the girls in DENNIS system, it's about showing off to the gang & ensuring they understand him) where Dennis is sex-obsessed and kinky instead of it being all about the performance leading up to that point (playing a character, manipulating a woman – the fact that he can get anyone to do what he wants). And textually, he shits on Mac for paying for sex. If you look at his sex tape in Charlie Rules the World it's pretty clear he's RPing while the chick he's with has absolutely no idea what's going on. I really don't think he'd give a shit about whether the person he takes home is into his kinks, so the whole craigslist bit is stupid regardless.
As for the "the only one" shit, I just think it was a serial killer joke he's just straight up never had anyone in there before <333 Gang Goes to Hell, New Wheels and Dee Day, his flirting is.... absolutely fucking atrocious. Rizzless. And he seems overall way less interested in pursuing women anyway. That fantasy was for himself lol
From my original tags on this post <3
I will allow that it's way funnier if he hadn't ever had anyone in there before though, that's very likely lol.
I'm very confused by you pitting being "sex-obsessed and kinky" against it being "about the performance" though. That seems like (to borrow your phrasing about Meg) an oddly fundamental misunderstanding of how sex, kink, and performance can be very strongly intertwined for people, which is clearly true for Dennis.
But that's not ALL it is, and it's like... completely contained to Meg's eps. Dennis' driving force is not simply To Have Sex. There's way more to it than him wanting to have sex with strangers. I'm not saying they're inherently opposing things, and I'm not saying Dennis isn't kinky, that's not at all what I was saying here, but when I say Meg tends to make him sex-obsessed and kinky, I mean that's all there is to him here. Dennis isn't interested SOLELY in the sex, it's everything surrounding the sex. It's the power trip, it's the thrill of the conquest, the emotional attachment and dependence that he fosters and then rips away. Mac talks about how long it takes him to actually have sex with these women, because "there's always so much preamble". Because that's what Dennis actually gets off on. It's the psychology of it all. It's gaining their trust by saying exactly what they want to hear.
Even if Dennis isn't paying people off Craigslist to have sex with them, it's like, completely missing the point of half of his DENNIS system, and that's the part he actually cares about. Why would he take the easiest path just to get off??? When I say it's about the performance, I mean it's about the essential steps preceding and following Engage physically. He likes picking someone randomly and giving himself a challenge, crafting a backstory, etc. Sure, he COULD do that online, but like. why. It's just a really stupid line and I think its representative of a larger problem with characterization.
