the sage of truth is interesting in that, while talking to teeper, he readily admits that he would be doing the same exact thing (controlling the timeline) that shadow milk is doing if he had the power. a shadow milk that has decidedly not experienced the severe worsening of his control issues still admits that he would preform the same as one who did?

why?

i can't tell you that, but i can say this is very telling about sage's current mindset. it seems like he also believes he deserves some form of justice from the world for it's cruelty, and that cookiekind is lesser then him. it seems like instead of going " you want deceit? fine! i'll give you deceit and i'll ruin your fucking lives doing it!" and that was his revenge, his punishment for cookiekind, sage dug his heels in instead- "i am not going to placate you assholes. you are going to get pure truth and you are going to FUCKING LIKE IT."

his story from this stance also forces us to consider ultimate truth as something that shouldn't be adored as the savior in the story, because sage uses it as a weapon, unlike pure vanilla. both opposite interpretations of pure vanilla & shadow milk's tales are intended to make you realize that a grayer worldview is better, much like how those characters will eventually teach that to eachother
