Zeus, as some would say, is the Golden Boy. He is the Olympian God of Thunder, and youngest son to Cronus and Rhea. Due to the fact that he was the only one to escape his father’s grasp, he became arrogant and conceited. He was also raised by Gaia, mother to Earth. He is a hard man to love for those who truly know him, and even harder when you’re on the receiving end of something he’s screwed you over with. It most cases, Zeus is greedy, and probably stole more wives than his entire life span combined. He’s a promiscuous god, and loves the exhausting activities of his time spent with women and men alike. Some would say his actions with women are a temptation he can’t deny, a curse, because surely he would not intentionally cause Hera this much pain. But even so, he continues to do so, and has the arrogance to sometimes not even bother hiding it. Zeus believes he has the power to overthrow his father, as it said in the prophecy. But unbeknownst to Zeus and even his own father, the prophecy was, in fact, a self fulfilling omen. And it appeared as though Zeus’ attempt did not work, which angered the thunder god immensely. He wanted the throne for himself, and would do so by getting his siblings and the other Olympians to his side. But then again, with a wife like Hera who caused deaths of many Olympians just over her jealousy, it’s hard to believe anyone could trust him. Despite what some believe, Zeus does so love his wife, if only for her constant vigilance at his side even through all this mess. And even through all the horrible acts he’s done to some around him, he truly does love his family with all his heart, and intends to give them the respect they deserve.
She snorted out a little laugh. “Yeah, okay love. You just keep telling yourself that.” Reaching, she let his hand envelop her other.
"Oh my. If that is what you think, then my life has truly become sadder than I even believed." Though she was being half serious, she still laughed. "It wasn’t weird."
A playful grin came to his face and he chuckled, leaning forward so his face was an inch from hers. "You don't believe me?"
"It's true, you don't need any other friends, of course. And Argus was weird, whether you admit it or not. He was always lurking around our home like some stalker."
"You may be right. I never was one for intimidation with you." She paused, tugging his hand closer to her and then grinned. "Seduction, that’s another story."
"He was my friend. And you only hated him because he saw everything."
"Now that I will admit to," he chuckled and moved toward her, his hand reaching for her other hand. "I'm too much of a man to be intimidated by anything."
"You don't need friends, you have me. And 100 eyes is a little much, isn't it? It was weird."
"To see if I can intimidate you." Glancing down, she brushed the pad of her thumb along the back of his hand before letting her eyes wander back up to him.
"If you actually thought things through, I might still have a cow. And Argus."
"I’m not sure where intimidation would get me these days. So no, I’m not. Simply stating facts." She paused for a moment, her gaze running along the length of him. "Unless, of course, you’d like to try…"
"Well, then you should have thought about your actions before giving your brother exactly what he asked for."
"I’d like to say that it’s surprisingly pleasant, but your infidelity seems to beg the differ. So how about you tell me how well our marriage is doing."
"Try hard, love. It wont be a pretty place if no middle ground can be found."
"Monogamy is boring, dear wife but you know I couldn't live without you. And you haven't assaulted any of my mistresses lately so that's always a good sign."
"In the beginning, it was absolutely terrible." As she spoke she started to smile. Her features, which were just set in cold stone, softened up at him.
"Something needs to be done, or I fear there will be no land for anyone to fight over. There has to be a way, Zeus. Find it."
"Oh right. And you think my being forced to marry you was an awesome decision?" She held up a hand, silencing him before he could even speak. "Don’t… don’t answer that." Rubbing the bridge of her nose, Hera let out her own sigh.
"And what of Persephone? Or Demeter? Now you have your sister asking for something as well. Will you give it to her as you did to Hades?"
"You sent her off to the underworld to marry her uncle." She paused. "In the underworld. The goddess of spring." For a moment, she just stared at him, waiting for it to sink in. "Her mother is Demeter. The goddess of agriculture and harvest. That probably is the same as sending her off to get killed.”
"And? I married you and you're my sister. Hades is a fine suitor." He thought for a moment then sighed. "She was what our brother wanted, it was all he asked for."
"Well? What did you expect her to do? She’s not as… thick skinned as you. Surely you knew she would get upset over this." Taking in a breath, she leaned back a bit. "Now it’s on you to fix it. So… fix it. Come up with something oh great and powerful king of the gods."
