hello hello my loves!! sorry for the radio silence, it's been one thing after another, and i was in a bit of a creative rut. the sequel to Something More is coming (i'm 8k deep into the first chapter), and a title announcement and first chapter release date will come very soon!!!! i have big plans, and i feel so grateful and so fortunate to have made such a lovely community of friends with all of you on here. i know SM isn't the most popular, or the most talked about, but it means the world to me, and knowing it gave some of you the same sense of happiness and pure joy that it gave me...it just truly has changed my life. for those of you who have been here for a while, (something) more is coming, and for those of you who are new to Din and Nova and the whole Something More storyline, welcome! i'm Amelie, and i cannot wait to return us to the stars (and rumor has it it'll be in just a few days ;))

What did Crosshair do to deserve all this hate?

His chip activating in the first episode wasn’t his fault. It was the exact same thing Rex, Cody and many others went through. He was still under the chip’s influence when he killed the civilians. Good soldiers follow orders.

Instead of killing tbb at first sight on Bracca he waited. They kept talking and he told them to drop their weapons. Then he missed shots when firing at them. Crosshair never misses.

On Ryloth he requested to hunt them down because he wanted to talk to them, as we saw in episode 15. Crosshair knew that they wouldn’t come for him so he had to go to them if he wanted to talk.

In episode 15 he helped them. He gave them a chance. He wanted to call them brothers again. He even killed his squad for his brothers.

Crosshair was abandoned multiple times and was almost killed by the ion engine. Still, he cared for his brothers enough to offer them a chance. He has more love in his heart than many of you could imagine. Not many people would be able to do this after the way he was treated.

So why does Crosshair get all the hate? Because he stayed with the empire? What other choice did he have after his brothers abandoned him? He feels he has a purpose there and he can do what he’s good at.

Is it because he was a “jerk” in tcw? When not even Anakin believed Echo was alive? (anyone hating on him for this must hate on Wrecker too, because he defended Crosshair)

Would like to add:

wHaT aN aShOle, he’s making sure Echo’s alright after he did everything to save him.

This man has suffered more than you can imagine and the hate he gets is unnecessary. Especially in a fandom that glorifies Anakin/Darth Vader, Maul, Thrawn…

In conclusion: Crosshair deserves the whole galaxy after everything he went through.

To everyone in the comments- No, the beetles aren’t killed for their wings. These jewel beetles have short adult lives (2-3 weeks) and the wing casings are harvested after their death to ensure their conservation.

The Victorians did not invent beetlewing art. This species of beetle is indigenous to South and South East Asia where beetle wing art actually originated. Thailand, India, Myanmar, China, and Japan all practiced beetlewing art before the Victorians. Most notably, they have been used for centuries in clothing and art in the Thai royal court. Queen Sirikit has promoted beetlewing art in an effort to revive Thailand’s art and cultural history. Queen Sirikit has also forbidden the harvesting of the wing casings prior to the beetle’s death to protect them.

Unfortunately, it is hard to find old Thai art online but here are a couple of examples.
