Liam doesn’t get angry like Zayn suspects he would. “I’m sorry, your Highness, but that is the one command from you I cannot obey.” The knight draws his sword and plants it in the earth, then kneels before his prince, head bowed. “I made an oath to your mother that I would protect you, and on my life, I intend to keep that oath.”

Sorry, this weekend was kind of hectic for us and we forgot to make a post friday stating that we were still waiting on late submissions. There is a fic to be posted today but there are some technical difficulties so it will be up as soon as those are fixed.

Yes, it’s me again, the distant voice continued on, sounding almost bored.
“I think I’m going to get a bowl of cereal. Maybe with some fruit on top if I’m really feeling wild.”
Liam looked up at Connor, smiling at his joke. Only to see that he’s not joking at all.
Oh no, that really is him feeling wild.
Wait, did he just hear the distant voice… snort?
(Or, where Liam finds a supernatural necklace that seems to tell him things. Or seems to be snarky. He's not quite sure yet.)

Zayn is a witcher, a mutant monster hunter for hire and one of the last of his kind in the world. Liam is the bard who travels with him, singing stories of his victories over the monsters he's slain and trying to help people see witchers in a more positive light than they currently do. In exchange, he gets to experience the tales he sings about, inspiring him to be a better bard. But when a powerful, seductive mage from Zayn's past shows up asking for Zayn's help, they'll both realise there are deeper reasons they keep travelling together. The real trouble is getting one of them to admit it, because facing monsters is nothing compared to facing matters of the heart.

“Save it,” Zayn cut in. “We don’t have time to unpack your superiority complex and how it manifests in ugly ways. Help isn’t coming, apparently, and the last place I want to be is trapped in a five foot cell with you. Can we focus on escaping, then we can have your little heart to heart?”
He turned to Liam with raised eyebrows, a no-no sense look lining his features. Liam wanted to push back—wanted to make a childish retort about him not having a superiority complex, and Zayn just being impossible to get along with—but he didn’t. Instead, he swallowed down the words trying to push themselves out and shook his head.
“Fine. But just so we’re clear, I do nothave a superiority complex.” Okay, so Liam wasn’t perfect. He still felt like the words needed to be said.
Zayn let out a harsh snort, rolling his eyes before moving towards the bars enclosing them. “Whatever you say.”

Liam’s grateful he has the book’s author sitting next to him to explaining all the details so he can stay engrossed in the drawings and not have to read the speech bubbles to understand what’s going on, but when he stops flipping to take a sip of his tea, he falls on two blank pages near the book’s middle and becomes confused.
“Why are these here?” He asks after swallowing, returning his mug to the trunk so he can turn back a page and make sure he didn’t miss anything.
“That’s my copy. It’s not the published version.”
Now that he knows this is a rare edition, unlike any the rest of the world has seen, the book feels even more special in Liam’s hands. “Can I borrow this?” He asks, holding it carefully. “I won’t ruin it, I swear. I want to read it all the way through.”
“You can live it.”
Liam stares at him with clouded uncertainty. “How do you mean?”
“What if I told you that I could visit the worlds I create?”
When Liam finally builds up the courage to talk to the quiet regular at the cafe he works at to tell him he’s Customer of the Month, he hopes to learn what it is that keeps the man coming back every day. Maybe find out if he’s noticed Liam all these months too.
