I think despite his hedges, Casey Muratori does a really good job highlighting how people who created extremely evil systems shirk responsibility and see their destruction of human liberty as a foregone consequence instead of a series of their culpable actions

listen, i hate grogu as much as everyone else. But you CAN NOT let that spill over into hating baby yoda. Grogu is an annoying marketing gimmick from a blockbuster megacorporation. Baby Yoda is a LITERAL CHILD STAR being taken advantage of by basically every adult in his life. If you know anything about child stars you know how they're treated. We know from whistleblowers they're making him pull 12 hour filming days (again, as a LITERAL CHILD), and he's almost certainly not interacting with kids his age; they can do whatever they want to him because he doesn't have the experience to know any better. We already know they've got him on ozempic, god knows what the fuck else they have him on.

And before anyone brings it up, I DON'T CARE about how he acted at the met gala. He shouldn't have even been there in the first place, he's a child, of course he's going to act out, and he's been conditioned basically since birth to think that's okay because again. EVERY SINGLE ADULT IN HIS LIFE IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HIM. He's literally the victim here and Disney is encouraging this. i think that tony gilroy just doesn’t have faith that some people come by it honestly, you know what i mean? like he can’t imagine that a lot of people don’t get dragged kicking and screaming into being a revolutionary, he must think that everyone exists in a state of natural capitalistic ambition and have to be traumatized into caring about the world.

it would be more valuable in the world we live in right now to tell a story of a young man who grew up in a culture of resistance, who was throwing rocks at tanks in the clone wars, who was in anarchist groups by 14, marxist revolutionary cells by 20, burnt out by 25 and yet still able to find the hope at the foundation of everything he does when he looks in the eyes of another young fighter.

but tony wanted to tell a “universal story” against “apolitical totalitarians” that can easily be misconstrued by the right. and they don’t want us to make the connection between a child in a galaxy far far away throwing rocks at tanks with a child in gaza throwing rocks at tanks.

ive never played baldurs gate 3 in my life but i just woke up from a dream where astarion had a little brother named bimbles but players fucking hated bimbles bc in the game astarion would care more about bimbles than the player so ppl started uploading videos where theyd kill bimbles and a video called “900 ways to KILL bimbles in baldurs gate 3” got like 10 million views and then bc of the backlash larian studios released a patch where astarion would kill bimbles early in the game if the player asked him too but he’d do it while shaking and sobbing in total anguish and ppl started posting videos of the scene where astarion kills bimbles with titles like “baldurs gate 3’s BEST patch”
