Slfln Pop Shon? I don't know… 

Perhaps I was playing around with letters, colour, line, shape and form without any real interest in what the words meant… perhaps I was sick of thinking of profound or witty statements…

Sometimes I just like writing for the sake of mark making, a set structure to follow, a b c d e f g h i, yet infinite options on how they work together, their flow, their weight, their accents...

Some of the statements have taken on ethnic references, perhaps there is some jumbled Scandinavian or lettering with hints of Hindi or Thai in there...

I don't really understand them myself but there was something very honest and right in writing them, perhaps it's the coloured language of my subconscious...

Pretty little Birthday Card for my pretty little Niece.  I had a lot of fun making this card, inspiration was from a butterfly sticker sheet I bought for her. As I can't buy her a big present (costs a lot to post to Australia from England) I decided a 3D card would be a good substitute. I just made it up, I am sure there are more clever ways of making butterflies out of paper but for me simplicity is key, otherwise I will bite off more than I can chew!  Happy Birthday Arlia! x

The Pineapple Hat 2013

Custom made for Niki Z MacRae, drummer of Bristol band Jalandahr, for the tropical themed club night, Happy Daze - The Tripical Island.  Constructed with whatever materials could be found around the house; cardboard, PVC glue, staples, fabric, UV paint, double sided tape, spray paint, children's craft scissors, blood, sweat and tears.  You may be surprised to know that Niki managed to keep his hat on at all times, even whilst rigorously drumming!

These Ink and Pencil Drawings made during 2012 and 2013 are visual representations of my heart. A kind of vortex, full of warmth and colour, either spiralling in or opening out, with no limits to it's reach or depth.  The visual similarities to nature are quite interesting; a sliced piece of fruit, a fleshy wound, microscopic organisms or perhaps sea anemones...  All unintentional interpretations yet a sure sign of the connection and shared similarities between humans and nature.  More to come, I do hope…

Working on first university project in 2011. Stop animation using drawing, photographs and melting plasticine. I never finished the animation, classic mistake of biting off more then I could chew. Quit the project and quit university and instead decided to pack my bags and travel the world!

I liked line, form and tone in faces. Still do :)
