This was in my room in Astoria, OR last weekend. And, fuck yeah, I used it! With a shot of rum and the courtesy chocolates. I may be straight, but I'm not stupid.

Says who? Exactly who says one adult has the authority to remove the rights of another adult? Is there a side note in the US Constitution? Maybe us full headed adults want to refuse service to bald headed adults. Maybe right handed adults want to refuse service to left handed adults. Maybe mustard on our hot dog adults want to refuse service to ketchup on their hot dog adults? Where exactly is this self-righteous clause and where does this nonsense stop?

I don't usually do RIP posts, but I'm sad about Joan Rivers' passing, and I'll tell you why. Just about everyone loved Robin Williams, but not everyone loved Joan Rivers. She had the guts to be a controversial comedian. She joked about everything without discrimination, including herself. She didn't care if you liked her, she cared about the art of the joke. I believe that there is humor in everything and it should be exploited. Laughing is healthy and good for the psyche of humanity. It's wrong for a person to single out an individual or group out of meanness, like some of our current lawmakers do. But it's good when a comedian pokes fun at someone or something to show how ridiculous we or the things we do can be. And, some people are just a-holes that deserve to be ripped on for a taste of their own medicine. I'm sorry if you didn't like Joan, but she was fair and equal, and a straight shooter. Also, Joan took risks that opened up the door for female comics. She showed everyone that women can be just as funny if not funnier than many of their male counterparts. She deserves respect and recognition for this and for her long career. Some comedians lose their talent over the years, but Joan was just as funny and sharp as the first day she hit the stage. I miss Robin Williams, and I will also miss Joan Rivers for being funny and a pioneer who bucked the system and took shit from nobody! I'm not going to say RIP to Joan Rivers, because wherever she is, she wouldn't want to rest in peace, she would want to give them Hell! So, give 'em Hell, Joan!

My Mom and Dad separated when I was 6. She worked as a cook to support my brother and me. She spoke very little English and took classes in her spare time to learn. I remember her frequently paying for groceries with food stamps. She worked her way up to lead chef, got a driver's license and bought a car. She was far from lazy. My brother and I never got anything fancy for our birthdays and Christmases, but we were never hungry and always clothed. She couldn't have done it without L.A.'s social services programs. Congress needs to remember that each person has a story. They're not simply a statistic on a graph. Poor people don't have an agenda, they're just trying to survive.

So It Is Written. So What? The Good Book (Bible) is Facebook before the internet. It's a collection of memes submitted by different people over time. Some are good advice. Some are nice stories. Some try to recruit you. Some try to trick you. Some are rants. Some are fake. Some make no sense. etc. Everyone who reads them picks and chooses what they like or will believe or will share. Nobody knows where most of them come from, nor their accuracy, but neither of them prove to come from any deity.

Off to Budapest!

I was recently informed by a cousin in Hungary that the last of my mom's siblings passed away. My uncle Uve'b was my mom's favorite brother. I haven't seen him since I was 9 years old in Budapest, but I remember that he was a nice guy. He got me drunk during that visit, my first time. It was actually my fault for drinking his vodka shot, I really thought it was water (true story). Anyway, he ran a hotel called the Inn Pranke', and my cousin said he left it to me. Teresa and I have been contemplating what to do about it. My cousin said she could help us sell it, or we move there and take up the hospitality biz.. I wouldn't mind living in Budapest for a while, but Teresa doesn't speak Hungarian. I told her half the signs are in English anyway. My cousin called yesterday asking if we're coming, and I told her, "D'ha!", which is Hungarian for "yeah". So, bottom line is we are moving to Budapest this summer to run the, Uve'b Inn Pranke' D'ha!".

How about this: How about we start electing people concerned with America's interests, rather than people concerned with their own interests. How about we start electing people that make the government work as it was intended, to manage our great country's resources, rather than people that hate government and want to dismantle what our founding fathers created, so that their friends' companies can run the country. How about we start electing people who care more about every American's health and welfare, rather than people who ignore polluters and white collar shysters moving money from our retirement accounts to their offshore bank accounts. How about we care about voting wisely for the smartest and the best people, instead of ignoring our responsibility as American Citizens and letting greedy or ignorant fools disparage our reputation as the nation of freedom, equality and innovation.

War Is Over (if you want it)

For America WWII began in 1941 (when Pearl Harbor was attacked and 2,402 Americans lost their lives) and ended in 1945. What followed was optimism and prosperity. The war was fought, people tightened their belts for the war effort, the war was won and ended, and life went on. On 9/11/2001 America again was attacked (almost 3,000 lost their lives). Not by a major military machine, but by a handful of terrorists. We sent troops to oust a terrorist group, the Taliban (not an army of tanks, carriers, bombers). Then we attacked Iraq (which had no Taliban, and had not threatened us; you figure it out). We spent trillions of $. We did not tightened our belts for the effort, instead we borrowed money and nearly went broke. The Taliban was beaten down to small groups of rag-tag terrorists. You can't eliminate all terrorists, so realistically our job is done. But, we don't feel safe as we did in 1945. Life has not gone on, instead we are still terrified and still throwing money at the prospect of feeling safe. Someone needs to slap America across the face so that we come to our senses and get off this military machine paranoia. It's time we concentrate on diplomacy and economic prosperity for ALL Americans and the world in general. Because when everybody is doing well it's hard to recruit future terrorists. If we're not prosperous those who lost their lives this day in 1941, and throughout WWII, did so in vein. Here's to Prosperity!
