THE MALONE SHORT STORY LEGACY
Note: I'm sorry for the delay in getting this part out. I'm also sorry if it's a little uneventful. Not much happened to Saoirse this week, and I may be pushing the story to a quick conclusion as I need to get back to my other legacy story now that my family is unglitched, so I'm also sorry if I'm pulling a bit of a Game of Thrones Last Season type vibe from here on out.
With her bills due Saoirse woke the next day and got straight to work on some cross-stitch. She needed more to sell to make some funds. It was still pouring rain and storming badly.
After having some breakfast and getting dressed she headed outside to check on her plants quickly - and saw a stray dog sitting in the pouring rain. Her heart went out to him and she rushed over to make sure he was ok.
At his feet was a gift and when he saw her he barked and pushed it towards her with his nose. "This is for me? Well thanks Puppy. You sure are cute. No collar huh? You really must be a stray. Well I'm going to call you Napoleon since you were sitting here so proud and tough and you're just pup. Do you want to come inside out of the rain boy? I have treats" Napoleon let her pat him and give him a treat, but then barked and ran off as if he had someplace to be. "Huh. Weird dog" She shrugged and went back inside, now soaking wet herself.
Her phone started ringing. It was Ben. He wouldn't leave her alone. "What do you want Ben?" She asked in frustration. "Oh hey! Well I just wanted to see if you wanted to go catch a movie with me" He asked, as if nothing had happened between them. "Look Ben, I just want to move on with my life. I don't think we should see each other anymore. And frankly I'm tired of all your drunk calls. You need some help. Please stop calling me" She hung up, regretting speaking so harshly but seriously - he needed help.
She went back to her office and started working on her latest romance novel called The Fairy Prince. She had always had a fascination with the fairy people. They were so beautiful and mysterious. She had a secret wish to become one herself. But she knew she was being foolish.
It wasn't long before she had finished her book and it was ready to publish. She was so excited. She hoped it made her enough to pay her bills.
There was a knock at the door and she got up to find Gunther from her book club standing there. He coughed nervously. "Hey Saoirse. I just thought I wanted to drop by and see if you needed anything. This storms been pretty bad and I know you live alone and all."
"Well thanks Gunther that was really sweet of you".
So....I let Gunther in. He immediately starts cleaning and looking grossed out as he looked around. He also kept having negative friendship interactions every time Saoirse tried to speak with him. She sent him on his way pretty fast. The guy is a bit of a weirdo! For some reason his first impression of Saoirse is that she's clingy, and she thinks he's funny. I'm going to take that in the NON ha-ha way lol.
The rest of the day went quietly due to the rain.
The weather had FINALLY cleared and Saoirse was glad to be able to get out of the house. She had the day off an she had decided to spend the day exploring Windenburg. She had always wanted to travel there.
It was beautiful! She grabbed a coffee from a cute little coffee stand and started walking around just exploring the architecture and the pretty cobbled streets. There was a really big fountain in the middle of the town square and she couldn't resist throwing in a coin and making a wish. "I wish I could become a fairy" She giggled, knowing it was such a silly wish. It could never come true. You had to be born a fairy.
She found a pretty little book shop with a cafe attached and so she sat and read while she at a piece of cake. She closed her book and placed it back on the shelf as she heard music and laughter coming from a nearby bar and decided to head over and check it out next. It was packed. There were lots of people dancing and drinking and having a great time. She sat down to order a cocktail and the guy beside her tried to get her number. No thanks!
I laughed seeing the bartender thinking about cash. She was probably thinking about all the tips she was making with this crowd lol.
She danced a little (and decided she likes dancing) and then headed to the library. It was peaceful and quiet, a welcome relief after the loudness of the bar. She sighed in contentment as she strolled around. It had been such a pleasant day. And she could finally cross off something from her bucket list.
Later that evening it was time for another meeting of her book club. They met up at the same library as the week before, having decided as a group that would be their meeting place from now on. Saoirse chatted away happily with the members, and mentioned her recently published book (hint hint) that they could now order if they were so inclined.
Thorn was there again. Her heart skipped a beat just looking at him with his long brown hair and that smile - wow. He seemed to be in a really good mood. He laughed and said he'd had a LOT of caffeine and had a bit of a buzz going.
They chatted for a while about the books they had been reading and he congratulated her on her new release. She blushed and thanked him. "So you said you were new to the area. Tell me about yourself" She replied, eager to get to know him.
He ticked all her boxes. He was a bookworm, artisan and a plant lover. The more she learnt the more fascinated she become, even though she told herself he couldn't possibly be interested in her. But they ended up talking for hours, long after everyone else had gone home. They laughed when they realised the Librarian was waiting for them to get the hint that it was closing time. They both apologised and said goodbye. Saoirse left already hoping she would see him again soon.
I almost had a heart attack when she asked him to tell her about some of his memories and he mentioned having a baby. I was like uh what now? I freaked out but I switched play to him and couldn't see any baby on his family tree or in his memories. Not sure what happened there but there is definitely no baby!!
Stay tuned for the next part of the Malone Short Story Legacy coming soon and thanks for reading. Sorry it wasn't as dramatic as the last few chapters.
Cheers,
