THE MALONE SHORT STORY LEGACY PART 9
It was a beautiful warm day and Saoirse had another day off work. She enjoyed spending the early morning tending to her garden. Then she got a pop-up reminder on her phone that tomorrow would be Pet Adoption Day! She could sure use a pet around the house. It was quite lonely with just her. She was still waiting to find the perfect roommate and who know how long that could take? She decided she would adopt a pet the next day.
While she was sitting on the toilet doing some cross-stitch (as you do apparently) she got a text from Liberty inviting her to the beach for a swim. She decided to say yes. It was a perfect day for a swim.
Her best friend Summer was there and she was so happy to see her. It had been too long since they had caught up.
She also spotted someone else she didn't expect to run into - Napoleon! The stray dog she had met in the storm a while ago. She was so happy to see the cute pup that she gave him one of the sausages she had been cooking on the BBQ. He thanked her with a few woofs and then ran off again. "I'll see you around... I guess" she said with a shrug and a laugh.
She enjoyed the rest of the morning splashing about with her friends. Even Titania was there.
That evening she was enjoying a little rest doing some more cross-stitch before she had to get ready for the music festival she was going to with Thorn when he appeared at her driveway. "Hey. I thought we were meeting up in a few hours!" she laughed.
"True. But... Well I had a little gift for you and I wanted to drop it off before the festival" He said with a grin.
"A gift? How sweet" She said, giving him a hug. "Before you give me anything I have a question for you, since you're here. I figure I might as well spit it out now while I have the courage"
"What is it?" He asked.
"Well.. I've been thinking about what I said about us just being friends with benefits. And I've been thinking a lot about you and the truth is I can't stop thinking about you and well... I think that just friends is not enough for me. So... do you want to be my boyfriend?"
"Of course I do. You're the one who said you wanted to take things slow. And I respect that. But I always wanted us to be more. I just figured I would wait until you changed your mind" He pointed out.
"I guess you didn't have to wait long" She replied.
"So what is this gift?" She asked, getting curious.
"Well... You said you were always fascinated about fairies. I'm giving you the opportunity to become one. If you choose to someday. It's a seed. A special see you need to plant. Don't plant it until you've made up your mind about it. Once you do, it will summon Mother Nature. Ask her for Mother's Charm. It's a potion. Once you drink that, and bath in the pond at Moondrop Springs you will become a fairy"
"Wow. I never imagined... I always dreamed of having wings and flying and I just thought it was foolish kid stuff and that you had to be born a fairy"
"This isn't something that is offered to just anyone. These seeds are very rare. Usually it's something fairies can offer their potential life partner. So it's kind of my way of saying I'm serious about us"
"Well here's a gift for you then to show you I'm serious about us too. It's a spare house key" She said, placing it in his hand.
They kissed and then they headed inside to get ready for the concert.
(While they were at the concert Saoirse had another potential roommate show up. Her name was Connie Fidential. She snuck in the house and started snooping around, taking photos. Needless to say I sent her home. What is with all these crazy people wanting to be room mates?)
(When she got home she got ANOTHER request from Thorn to hang out. This time he wanted her to go hang at The Bluffs. I said yes but darn Thorn just can't stay away from her!)
When she got there it was pouring rain. And there was like nothing there. "Um this is a weird spot to want to hang out" she said as they got through the tunnel. "Well I thought we could...."
"Here? In the rain? In a... bush?"
(And.. so they got it on in the bush. But then the friends Thorn invited from the book club started turning up and everybody was like gathering round to watch them.. *cough* it got creepy so I just cancelled the hangout)
